Z8 Wind Deflector Slots

Has anyone had a problem with the plastic wind deflector slots (4 horizontal slots behind the driver and passenger seat that hold the wind deflector in place) wearing out? I have been searching for 4 replacements and not been able to find. I currently am investigating a 3D printing solution but before I pull the trigger thought I would ask the group. Thank you for any input on this!

Brian - I had mine replaced in 2016. On the invoice it shows part # 51467002470. The cost then was $77.86 each.

Hi Skip,

I greatly appreciate your quick response. You have solved something I have been researching for a while. I had asked on the Z8 chat room quite a while back and no luck. I ordered through BMW of South Atlanta because they had a picture of the item ;>. I will circle back when I receive in about two weeks and confirm all match up but thanks to you, this problem is solved!

If you don't mind can I also ask you if you ever had to replace one of the tabs for the Fit Soft Top Cover? I have seen some discussion about this part but it seems that folks have tackled on a custom basis. I will dig in again on this but I thought I would ask.

I have not had to replace, but bought a set several years ago for “in case” as it was discussed here and some people were concerned about availability in the future. I probably take my cover off and on more than 99% of the Z8 owners as I drive mine a lot (has 112K + miles) and take it on longer road trips.

Fortunately when I purchased my 6000 mile car 10 months ago the owner supplied me with two extras. I suspect that they are still available from BMW. Good luck

Thanks for the part # Skip! 112k miles. Impressive. I am just under 44k. Thinking of selling but not sure yet. My favorite car of all over the years.

There is something very special about the Z8. In 2008 I purchased a Topaz/Crema example with 800 miles. Sold it two years later with under 1000 miles. Always regretted selling that car although I am one of the few who prefer Silver/Black. I have been fortunate to have owned very unique and special vehicles i.e. two Dinos, a 330 GTC, Series One E-Types, etc. IMO the Z8 belongs in that grouping.
