BMW certificate of authenticity

It is my understanding that an official BMW Certificate of Authenticity is available from BMW AG. Does anyone know how to obtain this document. Porsche and Jaguar do offer such documents.

Just curious, What would be the purpose of such a document? $100 euro for a certificate? There were no options available on the Z8, It could only verify int./ext. color combo. right?

I suppose if you don't have the original window sticker, then it's factory documentation of the car's config
