    New Owner Silver/Red UK

    Hello!

Wanted to introduce myself. I'm a big BMW and M Car fan and the Z8 was always a dream ever since it came out and especially after it appeared in James Bond.

I share a collection of M Cars with my business partner and the Z8 was on both our lists. We set out to buy one 4 weeks ago and did the deal on this Silver/Red one from well known UK dealer Hexagon.

I love the level of detail in this car and the relaxed way it drives. The perfect antidote to some of the more extreme cars that I drive. Not a fan of the lack of sound or the wheels so this will be addressed soon.

I'll get some more pictures next week but here is one for now. Look forward to contributing to the forum and learning more about these beautiful cars.

Congratulations and welcome to the board!

I bought a Laverda Jota from Hexagon in Highate back in '77, long before I immigrated, it's good to see they're still going strong.

It's a 1 owner from new car with 41k miles. Didn't buy a super low miles ones for that very reason. To drive it without guilt.

Welcome and love the silver/red Z8! What other M cars do you drive? I had Z3 M roadsters when I was younger and happy to have a Z8 now. As for exhaust, Eisenmann sounds great as does Meisterschaft. I see Supersprint has an exhaust and headers too but never heard the sound. For wheels, many like the 20" Alpina wheels or aftermarket options.

Wow...awesome collection from different periods of BMW's history. The Z8 is in good company. Curious to hear your thoughts once you get the Supersprint headers installed as I've been considering them.

Will share details/sound clips when its done. I have a full Evolve by Supersprint exhaust on the E39 M5 and it sounds lovely. Hoping to get similar sound out of the Z8.

Two other changes on the way...

I was about to pull the trigger on some Alpina Dynamic wheels as I've always loved the look of then. Then I thought how cool would a 2 piece forged version be with a slightly modern look. I have access to designers and a factory to make bespoke wheels so the idea is becoming a reality. Same size as the Alpina's with a slightly more aggressive offset. I did consider having the bolts showing but decided hidden hardware would provide a cleaner look.

    The alternative with hardware showing.

A nice set of wheels will require some lowering of the suspension. I'm never a fan of just fitting springs to stock dampers so I started talking to Bilstein UK who I have a very good relationship with (most of our cars run some kind of Bilstein suspension) about making a bespoke kit for the car. Whilst this was going on it transpired that a kit had been developed and had been forgotten about. I've asked them to reproduce it. It is based on their adjustable B16 Coilover with rebound/compression/height adjustment and made specifically for the Z8. Look forward to trying it out! Will provide feedback when its fitted.

For me the Z8 has never been about being a sports car more of a cruiser but will be nice to get the ride height exactly where I want it and retain compliancy in the ride. Extra cornering ability will be nice but not sure how much I will lean on that!

Nice wheels...I like the concavity..yet still resembles the Alpinas. Although I am usually a fan of exposed hardware, the hidden hardware on these wheels looks cleaner.

The Bilstein coilovers look great. My car has a Dinan stage II suspension setup which includes:
"Dinan" Koni Yellows + Dinan Springs+ Front and Rear Sway Bars. I feel like it handles well when pushed but the adjustable coilovers you have planned will be better and transform the car's handling from stock.

Bilstein could sell a few of those suspensions if they made them available.

Welcome Imran! My Z8 is actually with Imran's workshop at the minute having a service / general check up before a decent road trip down to the south of France in May. I've known him for many years, and he did some great work on my old e46 M3 convertible around 10 years ago, fitting a carbon airbox and doing a full remap amongst other things. Will be first in line for his Eventuri intake kit for the z8 after it is developed !

The wheels and suspension are on! The wheels turned out exactly how I envisioned them.

Too early to provide feedback on the suspension but I will do when I get more seat time. Happy with the stance and ride quality seems good on initial impressions.

Supersprint Manifold, Sport Cats and Exhaust are on their way from Italy so looking forward to releasing some V8 sound.

Cheers! We have had more interest on the intake than expected since we announced it. We would have made a 1 off just as its our car but distributors have said they will commit to taking some when its ready.

Looks great! A note about Hexagon Motors- they’ve certainly been around for a while. For a brief time in 1970 they were in possession of my Lamborghini Miura, and lent it out to MOTOR magazine for an article they wanted to do.
