    Green Z8

Anyone know anything about this absolutely stunning Z8 photographed (apparently) in Switzerland....a country with more good stuff per mile than most anywhere else it seems?

Zooming in close it appears that the dash is also green, and the green looks a lot like BMW's Oxford Green Metallic, so this could possibly be an original BMW Individual car rather than a later wrap that we've seen so many of in the EU.

You can also see that it isn't an Alpina in the second shot, as there is no Alpina gear position nacelle behind the steering wheel.

You're right! This may be the best looking post 1960s green car I've ever seen. Would love to learn more about this car. Any word on the selling dealer? Maybe then we could trace it down and get more info

OXFORDGRUEN II 430 1999 METALLIC was a regular BMW color for the 5 and 7 series. The car was recently sold by a Swiss BMW car dealer

I noticed that. I wonder what their asking price and sale price was. Would love to see more photos of this car and know what country its in now.

I guess it is still in Switzerland: prices are way up there and not export worthy (https://www.autoscout24.ch/de/autos/...l=56&vehtyp=10) I tried it with the waybackmachine, but the site is blocked.

I doubt very much that it is an Individual. I remember seeing pictures of the inner transformation, but I can't find them anymore. There are several photos on this Instagram account if you scroll down: https://www.instagram.com/edomotorsport/ There was another green Z8, registered in Germany: https://www.autogespot.nl/bmw-z8-1/2014/05/22 But I think it's a different one because it has European tail lights.

I found a picture of the interior in my archives. And I hadn't seen this one too on the Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/p/B_sydz9paSR/

Interesting...but looks like the dash was wrapped rather than painted? Either way, shows how drop dead gorgeous the Z8 would be in a British racing green! It really is too bad there were not more color options. I could easily see people having multiple Z8s just for the colors. How about a metallic violet? An azzuro California? Rich candy apple red? If anyone knows of a car that is a good runner but needs paint and interior....... let me know )

I know, I was long thinking about doing one in the beautiful Aston Martin Almond Green from the late 50's early 60's, with a tan/camel interior.

Just to save time I added the pix I found here so you don't have to go hunting, and now we get a good look at the interior it for sure looks wrapped not painted.

Well done! That would be a great color combination particularly with the green dash and the tan interior.

Surprised it has North American Tail lights and rear fascia but no side markers.

If repatriated to Europe, I would have expected the side markers.
    2000 Red over black
heavily modified for performance. Although, not to the level of GM's car

Most of the cars are "de-US ed" by replacing the US parts. In general the only remaining parts are gauges and the cup holder. As far as I know the US lights are legal in Switzerland.

I imported a US Z8 to Switzerland and can confirm that US taillights are legal over here. At the minimum they were accepted by the Swiss DMV for as long as Z8 taillights were unavailable and as far as I know they are still accepted. That car is definitely US as the rear bumper has the notch for the US plates. I suppose they have covered the side markers. In my case, I replaced the taillights and the rear bumper to make it indistinguishable from the EU version. I have also replaced the headlights for the EU version not because of any legal requirement but because my US headlights were fogged up. The Swiss are most pragmatic and will not object to legalizing a perfectly good and safe cars and they saw no reason to keep our cars off the road when taillights were unavailable. That said if the cars are to be sold in the EU (Switzerland is not in the EU) it would have to pass inspection in the country if import all over again with a much less pragmatic approach…

US taillights are also legal in Belgium.
Talking about color changes, I've always thought a "cognac" interior would perfectly suit the Z8 because it's less orange than the "Arizona Sun" interior. One lucky owner in Germany had the same idea: https://www.instagram.com/p/CRKHPqSp2zN

And I guess that "cognac" color must be close to the rare "saddle" interior, of which I've never seen any proper interior pictures, although I'm pretty sure it's this car with silver rims that's been spotted several times: https://www.instagram.com/p/CRtTtsWLAYa/ Other pictures: https://www.autogespot.nl/bmw-z8-1/2017/08/20 + https://www.autogespot.nl/bmw-z8/2010/10/29

By the way, I found other pictures of one of the green Z8s that I posted back in 2011, it looks even better on those pictures: https://www.bmwz8.us/forum/showthrea...ll=1#post30288

I'm fairly sure that the cognac one you posted two posts back is an Individual car that has black metallic paint that I saw and took some pix of at the 10 year celebration in Munich, and it was gorgeous, but it was also a seriously gray and wet day, and so I didn't get to shoot it with the top down. The white dials I believe were only available on the Individual cars, as I had never seen them used anywhere else.

I agree. The Black top really helps it look OEM. I also prefer the ROW tail lights.

@bclaude what are the differences between the the European headlights and the N/A headlights? Appearance looks the same, are they brighter than the N/A lights?

In the EU US lights are not legal, did I miss a BELXIT? :-) The white dials can be delivered after market (https://www.heiler-tachodesign.de/Sp...Z8-E52-260-Kmh)

Gorgeous! Cognac with the green would be truly stunning. If only BMW had offered more variety for the Z8!

@Ton: not yet There are many examples of Z8s registered in Belgium with US tail lights, so I guess it's at least tolerated here.

Just found a new picture of one of the green Z8s (source: https://www.reddit.com/r/BMW/comment..._beast_bmw_z8/). It's the one with the black soft top. And it could be this one: https://www.bmwz8.us/forum/showthrea...ll=1#post24993

Dare I say it, but I actually like the chrome "Z8" on the rear bumper in that photo. Has anyone done that here? Is it just an adhesive?

I don't have a clue, I thought it were the press cars but these don't have the Z8 badge

Yes, it is adhesive. I bought a set a few years ago, but never put them on. I sort of enjoy be asked "what is it?".

I see them close-up now. The script is actually pretty cool. I think I'll give it a try!
