Having improved my Z8 in many ways and reduced its weight by almost 300 pounds, I have decided to replace my older brake upgrade. The new calipers will be forged aluminum lithium, the material used in F1 brakes, 6 piston front and 4 piston rear, the pistons will be cross and gun drilled titanium and, instead of bleed screws, the calipers will have miniature titanium quick disconnect valves as do F1 calipers. To further reduce weight, caliper design will utilize structural optimization software not available when the Z8 was new. The discs will be carbon ceramic, the bells (hats) will be high temperature anodized aluminum with a titanium bobbin mounting system attached by silver plated Kynar nuts and the hoses will be metal braided with Viton coating and titanium ends coated in titanium nitride. Additionally, the calipers will be direct bolt-on, i.e., no brackets.
