    BMW Carbon Ceramic Brakes

I've been toying with the idea of installing BMW carbon ceramic brakes from an M5/M6. Curious to know if anyone knows the weight of a stock rotor and caliper? If so I could then figure out what the weight savings would be.

I was under the impression that you need to build substantial heat in the ceramic brakes to make them function correctly thus don't have the best manners on the street.

heavily modified for performance. Although, not to the level of GM's car

This is not correct at least in Porsche PCCB brakes that I have on my Targa. Incredible stopping speed in normal driving and immediately. Plus the bonus of no brake dust. Absolutely love them!

That was true when the disc tech was new but my experience with today's ceramic brakes is they are fine when cold.

I will say, most of my friends who track hard, swap them out for steel as they are too expensive to trash on track. $14,000 for Porsche rotors and pads!

Yes - I have read about some people doing this as well on Rennlist. However, the good news is that they should last pretty much forever in regular street use.

BMW factory rotors, calipers, pads, etc. for less than $14k. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-OEM-F10...QAAOxyOlhSwQ1Q
