Is the Z8 rear suspension from the E39? E39 rear control arm upgrades possible?

Does anyone know if your rear control arms are the same as those from the E39? Would be interesting to fit these components to tighten up the rear suspension play.

I used Poweflex polyurethane bushings which worked a treat and really crisped everything up.

I don't think we share any suspension components as the M5 is a very different chassis.

While the Z8 is all unique on the top side, I have found that the bottom side is all off the BMW parts bin. Brakes came from the e53 X5 and e38 750, suspension bits -- i.e. control arms, stabilizer bars, etc. -- came from e39 M5 and e38 750. The only part unique to the Z8 on the bottom is the exhaust. The only problem is that it's going to take research to find what came from where.

Thank you Andrew. I will look into the Powerflex bushings. Were you able to do this yourself or do they need a press to be pressed in before fitting to the car?

Great! Thank you for this information. There's hope some of these aftermarket performance parts may actually fit our cars! Trial and error I guess now.

In typical BMW fashion, I suspect p/ns are going to be different. I found years ago that e32 Euro sport and e31 use the exact same Brembo brake system, but alas all different p/ns. This is just one example of many.

They do indeed require the proper bushing removal and replacement tools, it's not a job for those without a serious workshop & specialist tool set up at home.
