According to Dinan, they produced a handful of cars (under 20) that had their "Signature Two" or S2 package.
I thought it might be time to create a registry of sorts for these cars. Here's the plaque for one such Z8.
Hopefully other owners will add their cars to this list and we can get a total history on these cars.
According to Dinan, this may be the last S2 Z8 produced. So far the S2 serial number appears the last one I've found thus far. Also seemingly the only Silver/Red Dinan S2 Z8.
This Silver over red leather S2 included carbon fiber airboxes, specially tuned intake runners, larger throttle bodies Stage 5 computer tuning, and custom headers. I may be forgetting a thing or two. This was just a power system upgrade, said to boost the horsepower from 394 to 470, a 76 horsepower increase according to Dinan. Torque went from 369 pounds/foot to 419, an increase of 50 pounds
It did not include the aluminum flywheel upgrade, sway bars, LSD, shift-kit, Brembo brakes, etc. Those were apparently extra-cost items.
Reported performance figures for the S2 are truly stunning for that era:
0-60 3.5 sec
0-100 8.9 sec
0-130 15.3 sec
0-150 22.0 sec
Standing ½ mile 11.0sec 127 mph
Dinan Engineering estimated top speed - 6th gear redline 170 mph
Skidpad-Lateral Grip .93G
Car & Driver did a test of the S2 package as fit to the M5 which features the same engine and gearbox as the Z8: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...pecialty-file/
