sticky knobs

In one of my Z8s, the four control knobs rubberized surfaces have become sticky. The dealer does not seem to know how to treat them and says he doesn't see replacement knobs in his book. I've had a similar problem with an Enzo and an Alpha 8C, and the surfaces required cleaning and painting, but I'm hoping to avoid that by cleaning them and/or replacing them. Does/did anyone have the same problem, if so, how did you handle it? Does anyone know where knobs can be purchased?

I have the same issue and initial pricing for replacement 5 knobs (4 ac + 1 light switch) was about $1200 for the parts alone.

You don't need to replace the entire knob, you just need to put on new black tabs that press onto the knobs I would think. The knob is metal but those tabs got sticky.

I have gotten the 4 HVAC knobs from the dealer and want to replace mine. Any idea how they come off? Pulling on one just pulled the metal shell off and left the base firmly attached.

My Z8 does not have sticky buttons (yet!) but my 550 and 575 Ferraris buttons are all very sticky. I have not dealt with the problem but I think that this is MAJOR problem Ferraris and there are a lot of Ferraris out there so maybe the Ferrari blogs have more information, for example: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/th...-knobs.453312/ .

Baking soda and lemon juice or vinegar and most of the time the sticky disappears. I just did the body of my 15 year old Nikon and it is smooth again

After the cleaning Z-acht suggested, carefully applying liquid silicone will also help. Just don't get it where you don't want it.

I need to replace my heater knobs, not because they're sticky, but because the black portions are cracked (maybe from living in TX?). So did you ever figure out how to remove the knobs?

And is there any source for the lights switch knob without having to put out the big bucks for the entire switch? My switch works fine, but the knob has significant cosmetic issues.

Personally, I gave up on replacing just the black grips on the knobs. New knobs are ~$160 each (best recollection). The HVAC knobs just pull straight off. The light switch knob alone runs $400 or so - probably because it has the little bulb symbol on the end of it! The parts are expensive, but I sure am glad they are available.

3D printing might be a solution for small plastic parts. Haven�t had that issue on my Z8 yet but in another situation I gave the model of a plastic part to a guy operating a 3D printer and he made male a copy so close to the original that I could not tell the difference and the price was modest.

In my experience, sticky buttons are very easy to resolve. My 6000 mile 2002 Modena had the “dreaded” sticky buttons. After speaking with Ferrari owners I tackled the job. Using 70% isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth I gently rubbed the sticky black substance off the various parts. I then applied an interior cleaner/dressing on the cleaned parts. Not only do they look new but the task is really very simple. Wear latex gloves because the black goop is messy.
