    2003 Alpina (62375) Black/Cream with 2500 miles - Sold for $295K

A really nice car but the price! All I can think of is "Dream On" by Aerosmith...

It appears to be a complete and clean car in a relatively rare color combination. With that said, a comparable car on this board is listed at ~$100k less.

This price for a low mileage Alpina is not as unrealistic as you think. I have a buyer seriously interested and they already have another buyer in Europe offering 275k, so although it won't sell through EBay, it will sell, and for sure it'll be north of 275k.

And so it did at a new high water mark for the USA of $295,000.

The car is headed to a private collection the middle east.

WOW. That is great. Andrew, what would you guess it will be worth in 25 years?

Has anyone else heard of the 25 year restriction rule change that is proposed in China? If it happens, watch where this market goes.

China is a great unknown. Their appetite for classic cars may not match their appetite for fine wine, but as the love of cars infects the nation, I suspect the fascination with the history of motoring will follow. As we know the number 8 is considered the most auspicious number in China, so if the red curtain falls allowing classics in, I think you'll see the Z8's value climb in very short order.

As for future values, all I can really say is that I'd expect the Z8 will follow the Enzo (3.2mm) and the Ford GT (900k) at about the same percentage of value. If the market keeps rising or if it falls I suspect that those are the two cars that we'll always be benchmarked against. As of today absolutely mint examples of each seem to be here.....

    Enzo ~ 3mm
    Ford GT ~ 900
    Alpina ~ 300
    Z8 ~ 250

So we seem pegged at very roughly 1/10 of an Enzo and 1/3 of an FGT, and my guess is that we'll stay there regardless of the market's rise and fall, but there is always the possibility that 8 effect of a new Chinese collector culture could change the balance in our favor.

My point was that they are likely going to lift the 25year limit on how old a car can be to drive on the road, hence, why they've always focused on the latest and greatest. I've talked to some people that feel this may blow the top off the entire collector car market.

Given the current state of the collector car market, that's a scary proposition. My p-friends in the US and in the EU frequently talk about the recent price escalation of the wide bodied 993s and if they should jump in now or wait to purchase. Your post would suggest now!
