    Aluminum trim on E-brake handle

Has anyone ever removed this trim piece? I have a small, smooth dent in mine and wanted to remove and fix.

Strangely I just order one two days ago and was wondering the same thing. (The radar detector unclipped and fell on the hand brake)

The charge was $103 for the piece with the BMW cca discount. I would do it my self if it is simple.

Mine's all chewed up also from driving with cuff links. Hard to believe I used to wear a suit every day. HAHA I like how its all dinged.

Likewise, my parts have been scratched over the years. I ordered the matching UUC shift knob/parking brake handle a couple weeks ago...they're back ordered.

They installed mine while I watched, no need for an appointment. They did it so fast, not sure exactly. I think they popped it with a screwdriver.

I performed an interior refresh on my car that included the aluminum trim piece on the handbrake. Another board member at that time recommended to remove this piece by firmly sliding it forward towards the dash, which it easily does for about 1/4 inch then there's a stay clip that prevents further motion (see picture of underside of trim piece and the slot where the stay clip resides). Given the time required for me and uncertainty of how firm is firm calibration for removal, if I were to try this repair again I would inserting dental floss between the handbrake and trim piece from behind to try and release the stay clip from slot where it resides. If that didn't work to facilitate the trim piece removal, I would have the dealership perform the repair at the car's next service.

Best Practice: I notices during the Napa drive last summer that one original owner on the trip used a mouse pad to protect handbrake trim piece when driving, thus protecting the soft aluminum from scratches and dents.

Still can't get the thing off even with dental floss threaded down between the leather and handle cover. Do you insert something thin between the back of the cover and push down the clip? this should be simple!

I used a blunt piece of wood and gently pushed it forward.

ok got it with the blunt piece of wood although that small nub broke off that fits into the e brake cover. The new one does still slide and click into place and seems secure
