    my NCR project

Here is a picture of the prototype for my bike. The frame in the picture is a stock Ducati Sport Classic frame and the swingarm is from a Ducati Monster S2R. NCR is making the frame and swingarm out of titanium and of course everything will fit together when they do. If you're not a Ducatisti you won't know it, but those are Ducati 999R throttle bodies fitted to G&G downdraft heads. I'm aiming for 120kgs and 140hp. The anticipation is killing me.

The titanium frame that NCR is constructing for my bike is on the right. The blue one on the left is a stock steel frame. I have been waiting two years to get to the front of the queue.

That is pretty cool. For those of us (me ) who don't know, what is "NCR"?

    www.ncrfactory.com

NCR started out as the "works" Ducati racing team: http://www.ncrfactory.com/eng/html/01.00.shtml
N, C, and R are the first letters of the last names of the three mechanics who ran the team. Vintage NCR racing bikes are some of the most sought after bikes in the world.

Today NCR is owned by the Poggipolini group who are suppliers (mainly titanium, carbon fiber, forging, vapor deposition, rapid prototyping, etc.) to the aerospace and racing industries. The Poggipolini family got their start in motorcycle racing and NCR is a passion project for them. They don't go racing anymore, but if you want the ultimate Ducati-based performance bike, they will make it for you.

Schedoni seat is done (same guys that did the Z8 club luggage set).

PS: I'm still looking for a Z8 club luggage set.

Wow, it really makes me wanna be 21 again! :-) I'm too old and cautious now to ever be able to extract from such a beauty what it has to offer.

you and me both, I'm afraid. but it will be fun extracting a %. Mainly this project is about realizing my vision of the ultimate bike. It's pretty fun getting every detail exactly as I want it and a lot cheaper to do with a bike than with a car!

Still some things I want to tweak, but it's done as far as NCR are concerned. Paint is in the colors of Grau & Canellas' 1973 Montjuic winner: NCR's first endurance win.

Well, as you can imagine, with 125kg, 140hp, very low rotating/unsprung mass (carbon wheels, ceramic brakes, etc.): it is phenomenal! Handles like a 250cc two-stroke, but when you press go, it REALLY goes. I need to lower the rider's weight now and improve his durability.

I take that back: my bike is even lighter than a 250. A CBR250 has a dry weight of 337lbs, versus around 270 for my bike. And of course the hp comparison is 24hp versus 140hp.

I LIKE that! Seems it would apply to a LOT of us.
