The Texas/Oklahoma Z8's were the first to start the trek to Portland. Christian and Jeff's cars were picked up at Classic BMW in sunny Plano, TX and then rode to Garlyn-Shelton BMW in Temple, TX where they were joined by Ken and Mark's Z8s.

After saying goodbye to our trusty Longhorn after a surprise early morning shower, we were off to Temple to meet the Plycar van.

The TX cars arrive in OR...

Here are some Z8 pictures sent in by Mark at Pacific Motorsports. Thanks for the pix, and taking such good care of our cars!

We have been Tweeting about them on our Twitter feed - BMWShopPDX. There is a link to the Twitter Feed directly from the homepage of our website. You can tell your club members that we have, and will continue to Tweet about them there, where most of the pictures are different (from my iPhone). These attached pictures are from a higher resolution "real" camera.

We hope that you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoy having the cars here. For professionals that work on cool cars every day, this is special for us.

    Best regards,

Mark, Julie, Brandon, James, Chris & Terry

Notice the Pacific Motorsport Shop sign in the second picture at the upper right of the building. It is of a Titanium/silver Z8. It is nice to see the Oregon Drive starting to move along after a year in the making. Thanks to everyone. Erik

We're now all here, and the adventure has started in earnest!

In this first strip you can see Norcal & my cars arriving at Pacific Motorsports just thirty minutes after we arrived, then all of us heading out through downtown Portland and into the beautiful open countryside on route to the Allison.

Here is our first event of the trip, a private tour of a wonderful collection with it's patron.

Once we all assembled at the Allison we headed over to see the owner, Mr Ken Austin's wonderful private collection. Ken started building hot rods as a boy, and has 34 patents in casting manifolds and engines, but his great contribution to the PNW was he started the first alcohol program, Hazelton/Springbrook, and helped many people change their lives for the better. He also started A-Dec dental equipment company before opening the Allison three years ago.

After our tour it was back to the hotel for our first dinner all together, and a full preview presentation of our route and travel plan.

Magnificent pictures! Wish we could have joined you -- we were at Timberline Lodge about 3 years ago; the Oregon countryside is beautiful. When we were there we visited with relatives in Forest Grove and in Amity. Enjoy!

Thumbs up ...and a few more.

The light got better and as the gorgeous sunset occurred, really highlighted the orange of the sunlight and reflection off of rust colored paint of the exterior of The Allison -- just amazing start to a much anticipated journey.....

plus, to see a 1907 Ford Model K 'survivor' was a real treat. Still with original leather, paint and canopy.

    Best Regards,

We had a few days to explore Oregon before the group got together. The Evergreen Space Museum and Munson Falls were both great stops. Check-in at the Allison was next, followed by the tour of Ken Austin's garage.
