With the scarcity of Z8's meetups I've taken to hanging out with the SoCal Supercar meet & drive group. Good group of people, often driving up PCH to Sunday's Car's and Coffee at the Malibu Country...
I've had the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06's on my car for six months and they're great. Really, my car sees so little mileage that the premium price for some tires isn't worth it. My last set of...
I think you're looking at the ambient air temperature sending unit.
"The BMW of North America facility in Oxnard, California no longer does aluminum repairs, leaving the facility in New Jersey as the only place on the continent authorized to fix the Z8’s frame."
I've had the same issue for years. There's a thread somewhere on the forum history. I do recall that's it's not uncommon or anything to worry about.
I'm missing my window sticker as well...thanks Bill!
I was thinking about taking the Z8 out for a drive along the coast. For sure going to the meetup at Malibu Country Mart on Sunday morning, but taking another car out that day. If anyone wants to get...
I remember something about clear front turn signal lenses for the Asian exports as well. I've never seen a picture of them, but if they're out there it might be interesting modification to remove...
Sure looks cleaner without those side markers.
I'm the first registered owner of 0024, with the assistance of another member of the forum that had connections within BMW he was able to confirm that my car was originally a "press" car, then loaned...
My seat backs have started to pop off...the top clips are intact and I'm using Velcro to pretty successfully keep those clips attached to the seat backs. What I did find is that the side clips are...
All the glued parts have starting to fail in my car...surprising since most of the time it sits in a cool garage. What I've found is that BMW didn't do any surface prep on the parts. Glue applied to...
A little more research and I'm still buying a set of the ECS tires, just got a notification that their rebate starts in June.
Hmm...I didn't know about that problem with the Continental ECS. I'd been waiting out this virus madness with the hopes that Continental would have them on their regular spring/summer sale. I can see...
Those look great, hope they become available to the rest of us.
Those covers are an ongoing problem here...I lost one on the road a few months ago and bought a replacement that didn't seem to fit. I took the other washer cover off to see how it fits, broke that...
Well, that handbrake is apparently the last thing that'll ever fall apart on this car...two expired and now delaminated cards and attempts with some other tools, that handle is still solidly on there.
This forum is the best...I lost the passenger side washer cover over the weekend and had a vague memory of a past post dealing with the same situation. Thanks for the information.
There's an "inspection" light and an "oil service" light??? I wonder if a dealer turned off all those notifications on my car, because I've never seen them come up as a reminder.
I thought both of those Z8 specific exhaust systems had been out of production for several years...
Great, thanks for the tip...I'll try it this weekend.
And I'll just throw this out there...if anyone knows a way to remove the aluminum handle (its badly scratched) on the parking brake, I'd appreciate it.
Many years ago we did the LED upgrade on our parking lights (this might be news to more recent owners on the Forum). I've just started to look on the M5 Forum for LED upgrades for all or most of the...
148 mph with the top down on a closed runway and it felt like the wind was ripping the hair off my head...won't do that again.
Thanks for the info...One of these days I'll take my head unit out (before it dies) and upgrade to something better then 20 year old technology.
I purchased a Halotron fire extinguisher a few years ago for the Z8. This looks like a much better and easier alternative...Group buy is April 5-15, 2019....
I remember a photo many years ago of a Z8 in Japan that had clear front turn signal lenses and (maybe) clear side markers. A Z8 video in I watched recently (filmed in Japan) reminded me that I had an...
If anyone is interested in this as garage art...and I see they offer a 15% discount with group orders of ten or more.

I've never once tried to use my washer/wipers...guess I need to leave a note in the car before the next wash and wax.
It's been a busy return to work after the holidays with some additional vacation time thrown in. HOWEVER, I do want to send you a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY and wish you a great 2019. All of us in the Z8...
Curious as well...170k miles might be a lot for some cars, but I'd expect more from that M5 engine.
I hadn't installed one of those for the same reason...it looks likes the floor board of the trunk would be resting on that knob.
No apologies needed, just bringing attention that this seems to be a growing problem in the last few years.
A trip to the dealership last year showed my fuel pump was dying/low fuel pressure. There's a previous thread here that had several of us sharing the same issue.
I still like the mod done years ago...change out that rear fog light and make it a second backup light.
15 miles and $495k! ...Time for me to try that Ferris Bueller odometer trick.
I've got the same setup and have the same question about the upgrade. I've got an older iPhone now dedicated just for my Z8 music storage, but that wont last forever.
Sorry for all you folks stuck in the snow...this is how we do Jan. 1st in Southern California.

Crossing my fingers when saying this, but my radio has been (mostly) working the last few years. I'm thinking of removing and boxing it while it's still works and upgrading to something with all the...
Funny thing, I've never once used my washers or wipers...wonder if they work.
