I agree…it has always been a classic!
A black/black 12,000 mile Z8 just sold on BaT for $194,000 (including fee). BaT and sellers have certainly saturated the market.
In CT vehicles that are at least 20 years old are allowed to get Classic plates. The advantage is that auto property taxes are essentially eliminated. I sure got lucky😊😊!!
Thanks very much
Getting to know my “new” Z8.
While looking in the engine compartment I discovered a tag connected to the dip stick. It simply describes how to check the engine oil level. Is this a factory tag or...
This is a very common problem. Fortunately BMW can supply a new headliner in black or crema. A skilled upholstery shop can install the new liner. BTW, I purchased a 2002 6000 mile silver/black Z8 6...
In my experience, sticky buttons are very easy to resolve. My 6000 mile 2002 Modena had the “dreaded” sticky buttons. After speaking with Ferrari owners I tackled the job. Using 70% isopropyl alcohol...
Thanks very much
I am likely going to stay with the std 18” wheels. 19” wheels with the std design would be ideal
Are the 20” Alpina wheels still readily available
My 2002 Z8 is equipped with the factory 18” wheels. I have been considering purchasing the 20” Alpina wheels as 18’s look a bit small to me. Also wondered if there is a 19” Alpina type wheel that...
I have already sold it. I should have reported it immediatelySorry about that
Recently I purchased the correct BMW phone and manual from a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Z8 Forum member. It fits perfectly into the phone cradle of 2000-2002 Z8’s.
I just found an...
Ashtray had two issues. The plastic tail latch was broken and the latch itself was not functioning properly. Bought a new ashtray and repaired the latch. All is good!!
Just received an email from the BMW Group Archive.
Is the market softening
Found it.
Thanks very much
Are you sure of that pdf file site. Can’t seem to open itThanks
Well, the 12000 mile silver/black car sold for 226K with buyer’s premium. As we know a 12000 mile Topaz/crema car sold recently for 350K. If my math is correct that is a 55% premium for the Topaz...
Does anyone have an original or copy of the hardtop stand instruction sheets.
Thanks
can you send me a pic of the hook when convenient.
It does have a notched hook that fits into the small gear. It just doesn’t lock down.
Just discovered that the tail has cracked off
easy enough...
Of course we have chatted on the R8 forum. Currently I stored my R8 in a facility for high end cars. In the spring I will purchase a lift. The other half of the garage gets the two regular vehicles. ...
Thanks very much
I know the Ferrari, R8 and Porsche worlds but need to learn about BMW.
Drove the car for the first time earlier today. Just spectacular!!
REALOEM has a nice website for Z8 parts. I plan to call my dealer today and order a new plastic hardtop mount cover and the receptacle part. I remember in 2008 when I briefly owned an 800 mile...
Does anyone know the part number for the left side plastic trim cover for the hard top mount (black).
I found it
Thanks
I received my 6000 mile Z8 on Tues.
I have found a few very small issues:
The ashtray doesn’t stay locked in place-when the cover is opened it rises slowly
Obviously no big deal-never smoked...
Both have the BMW logo

The cover is grey in color
Thanks
Very helpful
I do have the car cover and bag
My thoughts as well
Does anyone know if the silk hardtop cover had a pouch or case. My car has everything except that pieceThanks
My 6000 mile 2002 Z8 finally arrived earlier today. It really looks undriven and came with everything supplied when they were new except for the Kyosho black boxed 1:18 model.
still looking for a...
I agree with that statement but I can’t remember seeing this level of premium.
Color (exterior and interior) as we all know is very subjective. On Tuesday my silver/black 6000 mile Z8 will arrive. While these colors are my favorite for the Z8, the market seems to put a premium...
Thank you very much
Is there a site where I can find a Z8 parts book with part numbers.
Thanks very much
Apparently seems that way
lol
Thanks Mark,
Obviously not that important but would be nice to have. Now I must find a silver/black Kyosho 1:18 model in the all black box! Car arriving next Monday from Virginia
Thanks very much
It is my understanding that an official BMW Certificate of Authenticity is available from BMW AG. Does anyone know how to obtain this document. Porsche and Jaguar do offer such documents.
Thanks...
In less than a week my 2002, 6600 mile silver/black Z8 will arrive. I am looking for the 1:18 silver/black Kyosho model that the BMW dealers would give to Z8 owners. It would be in a black box....
