    Well, that handbrake is apparently the last thing that'll ever fall apart on this car...two expired and now delaminated cards and attempts with some other tools, that handle is still solidly on there.

    I was told the same thing by my BMW service technician. As I only hear the squeak when I'm in the garage or driveway, it's (probably) a livable nuisance until the clutch needs replacement.
