Okay BMW, see if you can follow this one. The attached poll details sales that you will lose by charging your formarly loyal Z8 owners to fix an issue that is arguably your fault. You do the math. Is it worth it?

The retail or service business motto: One happy person/customer/client MAY tell ten people about you and build your business. One unhappy person WILL tell one hundred, and ruin you. Lets see... in my business, I see and speak with thirty people per day, all of whom ask about my car collection and latest adventures, times the number of days that I will remember this incident........

well, I doubt that we will ever forget about this.

3 of 5 of my private cars are BMWs right now: BMW M3CSL, BMW Z1, BMW Z8
I would still buy a BMW, but would look carefully for an alternative or maybe I will get wise and reduce my private car park.
I also will talk to my dealer, so the dealership knows about my Z8-owner-feelings and how satisfied I´m with the BMW solution.

Look at the sales slipping away. I think it's fair to say that these are (or were) some severely loyal customers. Way to blow it!
Well, let's say every Z8 owner knows 50 people who admired the Z8 in the past (I know, low number).
What will he talk about next time somebody is asking him about his beautiful car?
How many other sales will be influenced by this?
Who is going to buy a Z10 or whatever after this?

That the check I'm writting this month for a new car will not be made out to BMW. I love my Z8, but wouldn't consider another BMW purchase.

I'm in full agreement with all of the above. My new Porsche will be in the driveway next week having sealed the deal last night.

I'm keeping the Z8 too. It's still my favorite of all time, albiet, its fragility.
