Dear BMW Z8 Club e.V. Members,

With 21 Members from North America out of 214 Club Members in total you are now the second largest group as far as nations are concerned that are represented in our Club.

There are 13 Nations represented so far. These Nations in order of the numbers of Club Members are:

Germany, USA, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, Luxemburg, Spain, Turkey, Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece, Canada and France!

I would be curious to know, proportionally by country, the breakdown of Z8 owners. Just interested to see if membership is statistically aligned with ownership.

Monica, I love the way you think.....one day we'll have the best automotive database ever right here!!

I haven't forgotten about our d/b project, but thanks to the Club we are likely to have way more fields than we ever imagined, and of course there is the 'fix' too, thus the silent pause.

Received my Z8 club folder a couple days ago. Finally got a chance to open it all. Along with the little Z8 pin was a lovely small pin that my husband picked up and announced "look..they sent you an earring...where is the other one?" I grumbled..it's a tie tack.

For just a moment there he was truly amazed at their thoughtfulness of sending a female Z8 owner a set of earrings.

Sigh.

i'll make sure we get that thought passed up the line! :)

Thanks so much for joining, I'm so happy that our US team is expanding so quickly, and I really look forward to our first event at Meet in the Middle!

I'm still up for the trip, but have not made reservations. It sounds like you're pretty confident that we'll be up and running again by the end of May. If you've got some inside information then I'll make the calls and schedule the time. Otherwise, I'll continue to sit here behind the wheel and make loud engine noises.

Ron - Although I hope I'm wrong, I wouldn't count on it. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but IMHO this is too short a period of time to expect a permanent fix.

It would take an EXTREMELY ambitious schedule to: 1) Investigate; 2) Analyze; 3)Develop; 4) Engineer; 5) Build; 6) Test (through validation and verification); and finally 7) Apply the fix. During these steps, drawings will have to be developed, revised and finalized - not to mention the training that will have to be accomplished for the personnel applying the fix. All of this takes time. Being in the aerospace industry, you know how long it takes for these kind of changes to be applied - especially for a large corporation. I wouldn't expect this to be much different.

I'm not saying BMW is dragging their feet, but it's simply a fact. Remember, whatever this fix ends up being, it will have to last the life of the car because they won't want to do this a second time.

I don't mean to throw a damper on your enthusiasm for the "Meet in the Middle" drive because I'd like to see everyone show up. I just think we need to be realistic in our expectations for the length of time this will actually take. I would happily admit I'm wrong if this is completed by then.

You dont have to be wrong if they move more quickly than you've outlined- you could just be pleasantly surprised :D

as I'm sworn to secrecy at this point, but we are certainly in with a very good chance. On your scale of one to seven our fix much closer to hatching than you might imagine. As Jerry said cross everything!

Just wondered how this year has changed our numbers, and if the US is still the second largest group after Germany?
