Dear BMW Z8 Owners from around the world!

Over the past weeks we have had several reports of frame damage to the BMW Z8 and our highly valued and much appreciated representative of NA Andrew Macpherson got all the information out to you already in the other threads on this board.

The situation for all of us Z8 enthusiasts is comparable to being betrayed in a relationship, in a way that’s how we feel about our car’s.

We are tracing this issue very intensely and have already passed all the information we have on to BMW AG in Munich. Their specialists are investigating and analysing this problem very seriously. We are waiting for a first statement from BMW AG at the moment!

So far we don’t have any reliable numbers as to the frequency or the scope and the consequences to be expected from this damage.

We have sent a letter on this issue to all of our members. Simultaneously we ask you, all BMW Z8 owners around the world, to inspect your vehicles and inform us if your car has the damage or not. This is very important in order to get a valuable data base because strength in numbers is the key to a quick fix. We will collect your feedback and, keeping your anonymity in mind, pass it on to BMW AG in Munich in order to support them in their ongoing investigation and analysis.

The feedback forms can be obtained and downloaded on the Frame Damage Survey Poll thread on this board, please do download it, fill it in and send, fax or email it to us (email: Technik@Z8-Club.de), whether you are a Club member or not. Naturally all data will be kept confidential, but it will really help us in giving BMW AG a clear picture of the situation.

We would like you to know that we are doing everything we can to help BMW Z8 owners around the world to protect our investment in this wonderful car.

As soon as we will get any information from BMW AG in Munich we will release it on this board and also on our website www.Z8-Club.de (http://www.Z8-Club.de).<O></O>

thank you very much for your work on behalf of all Z8 owners and keeping us informed here on macfly's board. If possible, you may be able to get much higher participation rates on your survery if it was able to be sent back to you as an email in addition to fax or regular mail. I know we all look forward to some response from BMW, but frankly I am concerned that the lawyers will slow the solution to a frustrating crawl. If you could get in touch directly with the engineers looking at the issue, perhaps we could start getting some analysis and possible solutions or fixes, or if we are really in a bad way. Might as well know the truth as soon as possible, even if bitter.

Jόrgen

Thanks.

I have faxed you with my results (which fortuanetly for me are fine). I agree with RJAY that you would get a better response rate if you enabled people to reply by email.

the fax number is right there on the document, but an email version could be good too, so those of you wanting to fill it out online just copy/paste these questions below into the body of an email, and send it to Jόrgen (<Wunderlich.J@t-online.de>) directly.
