Okay, I will bite. Why is it priced to sale? What is missing?

nothing missing in this car. We just don't want to keep another $100k vehicle in our inventory, that's why we just price lower, and try to move this unit quick. I do have more close look picture, PM me or call me if you want that.

The last picture which shows the badge number of 134/555 is awfully tarnished. I have never seen that happen before. Is that a common occurrence?

I wondered about that too. Anyone?

I was guessing it was some sort of a purposefully applied aging tarnish to give it that distressed vintage look because everything else on the car looks perfect.

I've never seen one so bad but for some reason the Alpina number badges do not age well. Mine was silver when new and now it looks like a faded grey. The material is very strange too. It sort of feels like stone in that it's not completely smooth.
I'll take a picture of mine and post it here.

Why different from the Z8? or is it? Perhaps this car spent time in Hawaii or Florida (salt air and humidity).

Hi Guys.
We had an Alpina here in Denmark, which had a bad badge also. Never seen it before - but the cas not that nice either.
As I remember it, the badge on this car did not have recessed letters/numbers - they where opposite (outwards).
Anyone knows why?commons?
Or did they redo the design at some point?

Hi Lars - the Alpina badges in US cars are engraved while the ones in Euro cars are embossed. I imagine that the US Federal authorities overseeing the passenger car safety must have been extremely worried about the incredible bodily damage that an embossed badge can cause.

Ditto here, on close inspection. It looks like a surface tarnish that could be removed by sanding it carefully with a fine abrasive paper. Not sure what the cause is but it could indeed be the humidity or the use certain cleaning products. Quite frankly, I never cleaned mine.

Interesting to note your badge text is raised like the EU car badges.

Come to find out from my BMW dealer the Alpina 134/555 badge had been replaced once before already. The replacement from Alpina was not an exact replacement. Not sure what kind of metal it is.
