View Full Version : Soft top electrical problems

The convertible top closes to the point where you grab it and apply pressure to the inside of the switch and it does not seem to make the electrical connection and latch. This happens intermittantly - like one in three times. Then after I re-boot the computer by turning the car off for 5 minutes it works - sometimes. There is no pattern that I can discern.
Have any other owners experienced this? Also, I have experienced the random heat (will respond on appropriate thread) which also seems to be caused by electrical gremlins.

but when it does a second good strong pull down on the top seems to engage the lock without any issues. If this is repeatable then you should certainly show your dealer, and have him check it out.

When it does seat, it seems unrelated to the pull. and more like an electricla issue - I am taking it in but also suspect it relates to the heat and the fact that from time to time the pale display of the radio does not work - also with no pattern.
Thanks for the advice and running the board. This is a great resource.

that could possibly be related. The car does have it's share of electrical gremlins, and many with the same kind of irrational unrepeatable occurances you observe, like the heater.
Please do keep us posted on any cause and fix so we can build a good knowledge bank.
(Thanks for the thanks too! :) )

in the week before putting mine in storage for the winter, I had two instances where the top lock does not engage. Hope it doesn't recur.
