My fuse keeps tripping on drivers side power seat control every time I use the power seat control. My guess is that the switch module on the side of the seat is shorting. Anybody experience this before?
No, and never heard it before (does the fuse trip instantly?)

It will trip instantly if I am seated. If I am not seated and go to move seat, it works fine. Thanks

It sounds more like there is a problem with something inside the seat moving motors or gears if it works fine unloaded, but then shorts/fuses when loaded.

Mine quit working on my last Z8 the day I sold it. I told the guy it was being shipped to that it quit working that day. Never did find out the reason why.
Could it be that cables inside or underneath the seat are faulty and when you sit the cables connect and thus shortcircuit? (this is a common problem in Alfa Romeo's....)

Exactly this was the problem with my Z8 passenger seat two years ago too! The problem was underneath the seat and not inside!

Is this something that can be fixed without taking seat out?

The seats are no big deal to remove.
If you need help, email me and I can talk you through it.

I suggest that you use the wide painters tape (blue masking tape) to cover the plastic trim on the seat.
You should be able to lean the seat onto the other seat that has been protected with a blanket or large towel.
Most important: do not disconnect the SRS harness (aka air bag harness that is under the seat) unless the key is off AND REMOVED from the ignition. This will prevent you from turning the key while the seat is unplugged. If you plan to operate the seat while it is out, that is OK-just keep everything plugged in.

I will be under the Vette tomorrow but can take calls.
