Smooth first gear change??

Read somewhere but cannot recall that there is a minor adjustment that can be made to make the gear change from 1st gear much smoother? Can anyone help me here?

There isn't any adjustment I can remember, but changing the gear oil to a high grade racing synthetic, doing the Clutch Delay Valve swap out and adding a heavier UUC shifter knob and short shift kit all combine to help smooth it out, but the 1>2 shift remains the one slight glitch in an otherwise very smooth package.

Yes, as Andrew says, there isn't any adjustment, but I upgraded to Redline ATF fluid and there was a slightly noticeable improvement (subtle, but there). Removing the CDV made no difference at all in my car, which is very surprising because this same mod made a big difference in my E39 540. Others have reported an improvement in removing the CDV and as far as I know, this mod is otherwise harmless and might be free (BMW paid for removing mine. I think it is a 15 minute job), so might as well do it.

The only way to completely eliminate the problem is to change to a different clutch package. See thread on this subject elsewhere.
