I just finished waxing the car using Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid Wax. It looks great. When I run my hand along the hood or side of the car it feels like glass. Just what I liked. BUT, if I run my hand along the top edge of the hood just where it curves up toward the windshield, it feels rough and metallic, almost like the paint in that area was different than the rest of the car. It doesn't have that same glass-like feel that the rest of the car picked up. I went over this particular area 4 times with the wax and it made no difference. It almost feels like it didn't pick up any wax at all.

To look at this area of the car there is nothing visible to explain why it feels this way. Visibly it looks absolutely perfect. There has never been damage to the car and this is the original paint.

Any clues to what this might be?

Have tried clay on the car. Clay does amazing things removing stuff you can't see, but can feel like what your are describing. That area may get alot of stuff deposited on it due to airflow at that point (just a guess).

I should have mentioned that the entire car was in fact gone over with clay before the wax was applied. Thank you for that suggestion. Unfortunately the clay did not resolve the problem.
