Well, I know it is here somewhere but I could not find Andrew's prior pictures of his broken windshield. I recall this occurred after washing the car.

I have been exceptionally careful to put the top down as soon as I had hosed the car off - but it did not prevent my windshiled fracturing at the top edge when I cleaned the car yesterday. Temp outside was 74 degrees and the car was not in direct sunshine. I use lukewarm water to bathe the car.

I don't think there is anything I could have done differently.

Sorry to hear this - funny thing is I was wondering if there is any kind of fabric conditioner we could use that would avoid washing the top.

I'd guess that because you live in such a dry climate the fabric re-contracted super-fast in the wet/dry process. Even though you weren't in the sun the dry desert air must have sucked the water out of the canvas as quickly as if you were.

Of course, a miniscule stone bruise is a prime catalyst. You might want to inspect for one along the crack.
