That's an awesome price, wish I could as I certainly would!

Great comment by Satch in the comments section too!

Quite a bit of misinformation being disseminated by all the "experts." Apparently, nobody knows that Z8s were not developed using runflats and it was the bean counters that demanded them after the engineers were done!

Well, I have spouted off about the Run-Flats. I could not stand them. They have been gone so long my memories have faded a bit, but in addition to marginal grip, I thought they were the most harsh riding radial tires I had ever driven on, and that includes the "E" rated 10-ply truck tires on my F350.

For years I drove on Yokohama AVS tires and comparatively they were silky smooth, not to mention having much more grip. When they needed to be replaced and those sizes were discontinued, I switched to Pilot Sports (not Cup or Cup 2's) and they were even smoother and had more grip than the Yokohamas.

I do have Potenzas on my FGT and love those, but they are not Run-flats.

We’ve been told that as far as the engineers were concerned, the Z8 was not supposed to wear run flats, then the beancounters came in the room,..

I would agree that the run-flats were kind of a last-minute "solution" to the no-room-for-a-spare problem. But remember, the Z8 was also about innovation (Wow! Neon taillights!), so being the first BMW on run-flat tires (other than the Security Seven) was probably seen as a positive.

Had they used the Alpina suspension (of course, that came later), they might not have had so many complaints (or the need to retrofit a shock-tower brace). Since the Alpina came with 20" low-compliance Michelins, I believe it would have rattled your fillings with the stock Z8 suspension. It certainly works nicely with my Bridgestone fifth-generation run-flats... so much so that I am considering another set instead of Michelin P4s for my 19" wheels....

Buyers fee of $5,000 brings it up to $186k all in, probably a pretty decent price in today's market. Buyer and seller did well.
