Some auction results (Monterey and others)

Relatively low bucks for an Alpina:

A blue car just like Nancy Drew, but with fewer miles:

A nice, high price for black:

A silver car at Amelia Island:

    An Alpina at Amelia:

And finally a black Z8 at Scottsdale.

It appears the Z8 market is still reasonably healthy.

I saw the 145k hammer price car when in Monterey, and I put it in the potentially well bought category. It was running while in line to be sold, but it had the front tow hook installed, so at some recent point it needed a little mobility help. There was a nail in the left front run flat tire that will cause air to escape. If I were the new owner, I'd install the PP, new hoses, new tires, change all the fluids and all of the other items associated with the 10 year checklist. A 10% buyers premium puts this car at 159k, add an additional 10k for the work I mentioned and you have a 169k Z8 that's ready to be enjoyed.

    The Europeans still like Z8s!

This just in from a recent Bonham's auction:

Of course, black cars bring the highest money, I would think, but this is still a cheering result for a black-over-black car.

$181,050 for the Siler BaT listing
    2000 Red over black
heavily modified for performance. Although, not to the level of GM's car

Do black cars really bring the highest money? I would tend to think the less common colors, blue, red, and stratus would do the best, all else being equal.

Wowza. The BAT buyer did well.

Easy red car guys and former black car owner! It's either the former Belgian ownership or two guys at the auction really wanting this car. Probably the latter not the former. FWIW, and probably not that much relative to the triple black car selling price, I prefer the contrasting black exterior with red interior look.

Itís not so much about black or even black on black and more about the fact that on this side of the pond only ultra rare color combos or ultra low miles cars fetch that kind of money.

    Guys,

There are asking prices in Europe that would make your eyes water across the pond but the cars have been on sale for an age. Right at the very top end of the market some dealers are asking for half a million euros.

May I present this Alpina for your delight....
