    Ceramic Coatings -

Does anyone have any experiences or opinions regarding the somewhat new ceramic coatings that are starting to gain more interest and becoming more common place? They seem to have many long term benefits, but are also very hard (thus the benefits) and extremely difficult to remove. As this is fairly new chemistry at least for automotive use, I have concerns regarding long term (5-10 years) effect and questions about what to do when the coating finally starts to wear down. Could it start cracking or discoloring possibly. There are several manufacturers, here is one if you are not familiar with these products: http://www.nanoceramicprotect.com/pr...otect-hard-9h/ Now at the same time the results looks phenomenal and the ease of maintenance is extremely tempting.

This was a topic of discussion on the FGT forum recently.

    Looks like there have been some very good results;

heavily modified for performance. Although, not to the level of GM's car

i have taken off the wrap from the Z8 and have them apply Ceramic Pro.
car looks magnificent and feels like "glass"
long term effect we will see. they state it also protects the original part from UV radiation.
time will tell but for now I am very happy with result.
had them treat 2 of my other cars as well.

they look very professional , which is THE MOST important thing.
I did it in a body shop that is authorized BMW and works for a BMW dealer which recommend them to me. And also painted the bonnet that has been vandalized with a key few years ago (not a big deal though)
IMO everything has been done very well .
Also the 1st 3rd and 4th picture have been taken at home after a huge downpour that got me a soon as I went out from the body shop but as you can see the it looks great with no spots of water and immediately dry.

Super interesting! I have an issue with my Range Rover Sport, which I take offroad a decent amount. THe paint is pretty soft so I get a lot of clearcoat scratches. I wonder if this would help that? I will research this more... how long is it supposed to last and how much is it?

I believe depending on the manufacturer of the product it could be anywhere from 3-7 years. I am paying $900 for me 911 Targa including the wheels. I will post pictures once I get the car back - most likely a week from tomorrow as I may not have an opportunity to pick it up during the week.

They told me it last 5 years, and I paid 1,200 euros,
I had another quote for about 600 euros but it last 2 years.
It is water repellent so it should help a lot your Range Rover

Sounds interesting. Can anyone comment on a product called Ceramic Pro in the US? They say they have a process that adds up to 8 layers of 9h coatings which will last for the lifetime of the vehicle...if properly cared for following application. They have other "packages" ranging from 'Diamond' (I.e. 8 layers of 9h) to 'Bronze' which is fewer layers (1?) and lasts for only a year or something like that.
    Thanks,

    Had the Porsche Done -

Ok - So I had the Porsche done and I will definitely get the Z8 done next. I do need to get the front lip fixed prior as it has some rash on it from careless parking. The product that was used is the Crystal Serum from http://usa.gtechniq.com/ and the results are mind blowing. Looks like the car is coated with glass. Absolutely fantastic.
