    installing hard top

    Howdy all,
I am about to install my hardtop and have been reading owners manual. It makes it sound like you completely remove soft top before installing hard top. Is that correct? ""before placing the convertible top on the hardtop cart"

I always assumed you put the window blanket on, put the top down and then put the hard top on.

What gives? I must admit I struggle with written instructions. I have spatial dyslexia and thats when it comes out!!

Your assumptions are spot on! You must be preparing for the transportation truck... Do you have a Z8 replacement in mind?

Well, I got a really pristine SL, last year before the face lift, with the old school double headlights, performance pack (560hp) and I just love it. Maybe the best all around car I have owned. That will cover my extended road use, top down etc.
For fun driving the Z8 replacement is a 599. Nothing like that motor.

OK, got it on. All the tips I could find on the board were very helpful.
Two issues, the drivers side latch, by the shoulder, tightened but did not click. Thought I would try some wd40 on the innards to see if that will work.
Secondly, the plastic trim pieces fit just fine and have the "legs" that go into the wholes but they dont snug up at all. Any ideas?

On the driver side latch try releasing the other 3 latches and jiggle the hardtop just in case it's bound up. On the pegs that secure the plastic pieces, you push the two male ends into the receiving unit until it locks/clicks.

I will miss this car. In fact I have owned this one longer than any other from the last 15 years.

Congratulations on the 599! My bucket list includes a V12, and for you to have such a magnificent engine in a Ferrari... Mama Mia! 😊

I wanted to show the interior, one of the best parts. Z8 is currently on its way to Chicago.

Wow, love those Daytona seats and color scheme. Not sure I'm ready for the f1 transmissions yet, but stick days are numbered.... Enjoy the new ride!

I am about 50/50 in F1 to stick cars. I enjoy both for different reasons but will say that once you get used to both hands on the wheel all the time, its pretty cool the focus on the road or track that that allows.

Beautiful car and the interior is the icing on the cake. Congratulations! I am 50/50 on the stick vs. paddles with my Z8/Porsche 911 and enjoy both. The paddles with the PDK transmission are a blast and I never miss the manual when driving, especially if in heavy traffic which I often encounter as it is my daily driver. At the same time it is fantastic on the back roads and truly a pleasure to use. And then there are the Z8 drives with the manual that are as pleasurable, just with a different feel. Just two different personalities - both as good.
