The color is very close to stratus, with a slight warmth to it, especially under the setting sun. Does remind me of the stratus red 507 at the BMW museum.

To make a proper em dash, as in Derek Zoolander, you may hold down the ALT key while typing 0151 on the numeric keypad....

Congratulations!! As a drooler who has configured more than one of these, I hope you won't mind... Thank you!
    1. Have you gotten used to the manual top and are there any glitches getting it into place. Is there anything annoying about it?
    2. This one may be premature - how's the AC?
    3. Any problem with nose ground clearance on our lovely bay area roads / driveway lips, etc.
    Thanks!

The Spyder may be the last of its kind. Manual, 3.8L NA carrera motor. This/next year they are all going to turbo 4s! About 800 cars for North America. One year only.

The top is a little more of a pain than the z8
Haven't really used the AC yet
On very bumpy back roads, at an aggressive speed, I only scraped once... Not sure which part, not bad, and so far only with a passenger. Btw the configurator is gone.... Cars all sold. Would have to look hard and shake trees to find one.

Pm me if you want to talk. Or I can drive up to meet you? Need more break in miles!

Greg, I know of a Yellow Spyder with only 800 miles that just came on market.

I've driven and riden in Ian's. It's simply perfection.

Nice to see you posting! I decided am not going to buy one. I don't have the parking room and can't give up my 650 as a daily driver for the spyder. But I'm jealous anyway

Congratulations Ian! What a gorgeous specimen and already a collectors' car in the making. These things are absolutely addictive - as you well know.

I got so frustrated after years of searching for a decent 356 that I shifted my focus on finding a newer Porsche model for half the entry fee with hopefully similar appreciation potential and lots of driving fun on the way there.

The 987 Spyder fit my mission perfectly. Only 1,600 built. This particular one in rare cream white over red Nappa leather. Short shift kit, GT3 front suspension upgrades, etc. by none lesser than Singer Design's owner who put some 6k miles on it before he moved on to the next project and traded it at his Porsche dealer. The first used car ever I bought without having kicked its tires. No regrets, just miles of smiles.

    Happy motoring,

    Christian

After seeing your pics, and having loved Boxsters over the years, I started looking around for cars. My dealer said they were sold out and hard to get but I was able to find 21 cars available around the country at or slightly less that msrp.
Seems like a good buy though as the 3.8 motor is a nice piece, esp. with manual tranny.

Sweet car. Only 3300mi. Not a gt3 or z8 beast, but light and nimble. Super comfortable. Revvy.

Spyder only came as a manual.....which is a good reason for its being cool!

    - - - Updated - - -

I drove a Spyder through the canyons. It is the best balanced car I've ever driven. Great daily driver car that gets good gas mileage and easy to drive.

Ian kindly let me have a quick blast in the one at the start of the thread, and it totally blew me away, I would if I could for sure!
