Amazing what people paid for these cars when new!

This early Z8 (AH60077) must have been one of the first cars sold here in the US. According to the current owner/seller, the original buyer paid $313,205.21 for the car when purchased new from Peter Pan BMW in August of 2000. Must have been been a Silicon Valley zillionaire! The car appears to be immaculate from the photos.

I'll check with Party A, but I think she said that in the paperwork for Buffy, aka 60084, she discovered that it had been purchased (in Atlanta?) for something like $212,000. I do remember that these cars were fetching twice their $128,000 MSRP. Several dealers simply bought their own allotment of one or two cars!

I believe the first one in LA went for over $300k too, rumor has it that it was a red car that went to Pete Sampras, but that is totally unconfirmed.

Considering inflation from 2000 to 2015 (cumulative rate 38.6%), if one paid $300K USD that works out to $416K USD today. There was at least one Silicon Valley zillionaire from Apple with a Z8 and maybe two including a guy from Oracle.

I was told (have no proof) that Steve J paid $100k over.

if anyone could afford it he could! I just hope it gave him pleasure along the way. Still seems strangely sad to me that someone who did so much went so young.

I think he liked it (from what I'm told) except for the dead battery issue. Odd he didn't understand battery life....

Given the poor battery life on my iPhone they still don't understand battery life.

On this subject, I wonder how much over list the 250 samples of the Ford GT are going to go for? Maybe none, since Ford is doing an application process to get one. The belief being the application will weed out car flippers for true enthusiasts or collectors.
