2000 BMW Z8 (#77730) sold at RM Auctions in Paris for $209,100

I didn't know that RM held auctions in Paris, it'll be interesting to see what it fetches there. I would have thought it'd be worth more than the top end of the estimate, but I haven't really followed values in France that closely.

I see a 20k mile car with no PP, looking a bit more sat in than mine. I wonder if the pre vanos fix cars are less favored, marketwise. On the other hand there will be no EU updates, so they can drive away. I am not sure how much that costs, but imagine it figures into any European's offer for a US car. With Big Gar's post shipping is relatively minor, so import taxes would be the only other auction cost reduction issue, offset perhaps by the buyer's premium.issue.

A full conversion of an US car to EU specifications will be around $ 10K, were about $7000 is spend on tail lights. Import taxes are quite substantial too

Headline for this post says $184,800 (dollars)... should be 184,800 Euros, which is $209,100 at today's $1.13 exchange rate. Even more "Wowza"!!

Link doesn't seem to say whether that's the "hammer" price or the total including RM's vigorish.

I was fortunate enough to have attended the auction and had a good look over the car including sitting in it. It was an immaculate example with great leather etc. The only thing I could fault was the odd chip on the wheels. The car was registered in Sweden meaning that it would attract 20% tax to import into EU. So in effect the USD209k would be USD200k if adjusted for the changes required for a US car. Seemed like a very strong price but I guess buyers valued the fact it was an EU model. Bidding was frantic and there were many phone bidders.

The listed price includes the 10% buyers premium.
