    Monterey 2014

This years coverage starts with McCall's event at the Monterey Jet Center, but is a much less formal mix of iPhone and Nikon snaps than previous years, but hopefully will still give you a good sense of what I'm seeing.

Starting on Wed morning I went with fellow Z8'er ZAchterbahn and his family to set up their Aeristo stand at Monterey Airport for the McCalls event, but on the way we popped into fellow Z8 owner Tony Singer's Memorabilia event at the Embassy Suites in Seaside, where we saw the 37 liter Packard aviation engined monster get unloaded, and enjoyed some stunning memorabilia and vintage posters.

Monterey moments 2 - The Pebble Tour D'Elegance

All the cars to be shown on the famous lawn at Pebble Beach on Sunday have to make the circuit of the Tour D'Elegance, which this year went up Boundary Road to Laguna Seca, then down Carmel Valley to Big Sur, and back into Carmel village. This isn't every car, but it gives you the flavor of the year, which of course is very heavy on Maserati as it's their big 100th birthday.

Those all look so great. Thank you. Wish I could have made it down this year.

Monterey moments 3 - The Quail

This is really my favorite event, and even though there are many others, like Legends of the Autobahn and the Concorso Italiano, they all pale in comparison to this truly exclusive, expansive and elegant event. What however most never see is the set up Today we arrived there at 4pm to set up the Aeristo stand, and I got to walk around, and capture a little of the behind the scenes scene. (I'll add the real pix to this thread after the event tomorrow.)

And here are the images of our day in the order it unfolded, from arriving in the early fogs to searing sun shine.

Thank you. My favorite shot is the rear view of the Porsche spyder! What is it? Not an rsr?

Monterey moments 4 - The Historics at Laguna Seca

This remains my favorite event, you just can't beat seeing the cars getting prepared for and then in action. As with the Quail, I've kept the shots in order so you can see how the day transitioned from the thick, damp morning mist to searing sun.

I do love the morning mists for taking pictures, but the sun brings welcome warmth when it comes.

Thank you for sharing photos and commentary. Many of us aren't able to go and experience the great cars and atmosphere but the pictures help us dream and appreciate it.
