Looking back on it, the cup was really won when Germany played Brazil, everything else was just a formality.

I am catching this thread a bit late but thought you would enjoy the contrast in these photos. My wife, children, grandchild and I are all dual Belgium-US citizens. As you recall Belgium played (and dare I say beat) the US in the quarter final which caused some decision making amongst us as to which team we would support. Since soccer is probably the ONLY thing Belgium has any hope of beating the US at, my wife and I choose to support them. By contrast my son and grandson were clearly for team USA.
