It was first manufactured as an AC saloon. Shipped to Brasilia in 1948. Made into a race car about 1952. Obviously someone fell in love with a Ferrari Testarossa and the body was copied from one. So it looks very seriously beautiful. Raced at interlagos through to the end of the 50's. Ended up with crumpled front end and in a barn for years, but was eventually restored to a fashion, mainly by the shortest route possible. Sold a few times as people discovered what was under the paint it went through a few buyers and ended up in the UK. I bought it and found it was bodily and mechanically a mess, but I started on the journey of a proper restoration. It's nearly there now, but not quite. When it's finished I'll post you the finished pictures. It is lovely. :-)

It's a real flies in your teeth machine. I'm looking forward to the two days of summer we'll get... Ooh to be in California!

I can't wait to see more shots of it as it gets close to being done. Does it have the BMW sourced Bristol straight six?

It's the AC engine rather than the Bristol. The Bristol came in a few years later. I suspect that by the time that the Bristol engine reached Brazil things in motor racing had changed consierably. My AC has a rail chassis and the new and better tubular version had superseded it. Power gains added to that would have meant it was no longer competitive.

We aren't that far away now, just awaiting the interior and some new wheels and hubs. Hopefully ready for both the days of summer!

i hope to take it to the Le Mans classic, but purely as a spectator!

Thanks for the interest. Will keep you updated!
