Personally I think the factory system is plenty adequate. At most I would switch out the head unit and leave the rest alone. In my opinion this system greatly diminishes the value of the car. I would assume the owner of this car is "friend" Matthew Perry as I frequently see him driving it on Mulholland Highway.

If music is your thing, you don't really value originality and generally speaking, don't care about resell value ..., enjoy the beat.

The only music I like in my Z8 is my raucous exhaust note!

There are many times I like to hear my tunes. So I like to have a good system. For my tastes the factory system works pretty well. Frankly, if I were to make changes Id keep the factory head unit and do everything possible to not show any different/ new speakers, but yet replace the speakers, amps etc with better ones. There are devices like the BitOne which allow you to work with factory head units. I like keeping the look and feel all factory. But I don't think theres much point to do it in a convertible or even in a sports car. It just adds weight and competing with the exhaust note and wind noise the stereo will lose unless you make it dangerously loud and I like my hearing.
