    Texas Hill Country Stampede 2/28 - 3/3

Something big is in the making outside of California!

Come join us for the first Z8 Hill Country Stampede.

6 cars are already confirmed leaving the Dallas metroplex on Friday, 3/1, to join 2 cars from the Austin area and 1 from Houston in Fredericksburg that evening.

There will be an orientation and welcome meeting Thursday night for those joining our group in Dallas who are coming in from Oklahoma, Germany and other places to make the Hill Country Stampede.

Stay tuned for more information and by all means come join the herd!

I made it home without getting a ticket on the return trip. You gotta watch those small Oklahoma towns! We had a blast in the Texas hill country. Great weekend with a special car and more special people. I will get some more pictures up tomorrow. Some outstanding twisty roads at speed showed me the car is certainly more capable than I am as a driver. Finished in the evening with some good German food and beers. Thanks to all the organizers and the special gifts provided. What a way to come out of winter storage. Well worth the 1300 miles added to the odometer.

Looks like a lot of fun, great to see so many familiar faces!

I want to see more of the scenery too, I have no idea how the area looks out that way.

    Improved Mode of Transportation

We really enjoyed the Z8 Hill Country Stampede. Hard to beat 100 mph sweepers and 2nd gear mountainside hairpins all in the same day. Betty enjoyed it too - and she's normally law abiding.

We took the long way home, via San Antonio. Toured a couple of old Spanish missions. They say there was a big fight at one of them, where the Texans lost and were all killed. Don't you believe it for a minute. William Travis, Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie live today, by having bought time for Sam Houston to snag El Presidente at San Jacinto 6 weeks later and make him sign over the biggest hunk of land ever ever traded over a land battle in the history of the world. Hey Californians: you're welcome!

On the way home, we stopped at the Stagecoach Inn on the old Chisholm Trail, and I got an opportunity to compare modes of transportation - now and then. I think everyone would agree - now is better.

    Great Time for sure....

Thanks to all who played a part in the organization of the drive. Great seeing everyone and making new friends. For Texas - Oklahoma, something we need to do more often !!

If you mean the street scene with all the wood pole columns and Billy The Kid Museum, it was Hico.
