    Should I go?

I am invited to a special cocktail party tomorrow night at The Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills being hosted by Henrik Fisker. Could be interesting to meet him but from what I have heard in the past, maybe I don't want to meet him.

I say go, and make up your own mind!

He is pleasant, affable, charming, and a great designer of beautiful cars. However his dishonesty, deceitfulness and lies have hurt a lot of those I know and like, so I personally will never have anything else to do with him.

For the newcomers: is this a story to tell or to forget without even knowing it. :-)

It's really not one to tell in depth or detail, but to give you a basic feel, a lot of the original investors in Fisker Coachbuild were from the Z8 community. In a nutshell they were all thrown to the wolves when the second and third round of investors came in, completely wiping them out.

I don't wish Fisker Automotive anything but good luck but I think them staying in business is a long shot.

    Marty,
I'd go, who knows who else might be there. At worst, it should be entertaining.

    Fisher designs

I agree he designs great looking cars. Just purchased a DB9. My son thinks his ATV is cooler, he will learn.....

I am driving my silver/red Z8 to the event. I spoke with the head valet at the hotel and he said I can park it myself right in front. We will show them what the best looking car Fisker ever designed looks like.

I went and they let me put my Z8 right out front beside a Fisker. Will post some pics tomorrow. Fisker pulled up in a Fisker and was talking with the owner of the Fisker dealer in Santa Monica about my car. I went over, introduced myself, and proceeded to talk Z8s with him. He said he would like to buy one someday! The guy who designed it doesn't even own one. He was very charming and signed my owners manual for me. I was almost ready to invest:-). He is that persuasive in person. He also said his original design had the windshield raked further back but the powers that be at BMW wanted it more upright for better headroom.

Here are a couple of pics from last night. The Rolls Ghost and the Bentley Mulsanne were both brand new. A young guy and his wife/girlfriend came out. He hopped in the Bentley, she into the Rolls and off they went. Only in Beverly Hills.

Nice Marty. The story I heard was they even were gearing up for the hardtops for the car to the more raked windshield- but at the last minute, a board member was upset the windshield wasn't more upright, like on his 507- so they changed it. This created the 6-12 month delay that many of early owners experienced in getting our hardtops.

I think on this one, the board member may have been right, from an appearance standpoint. The upright windscreen is very much in the space of the progenitor.

The raked version would have made for less buffeting, though.

Fisker said exactly what you just stated Rifle. He said the more upright windshield led to much heavier wind buffeting even with the wind deflector in place.

Right- also he told me a while ago that they might have been able to engineer for it better but it was a last minute change. The buffetting in the car is about as bad as Ive ever had in a convertible. That said, I dont care. I still love the car.

I need all the headroom I can get, so I guess I should be glad they changed it! But I like the raked one. And maybe less road debris damage too?
