Loaden up boys! BTW, did you change the wheels on your car? Looks like you have the stock 18" wheels in the picture.

After 8 years with the Motorsport wheels I missed the stock look. Also with the stock wheels I believe the ride would be more comfortable.

That car is insane. Audio, heater, AC, floor carpets etc are all removed. 1100 kgs, sequential tranny 700-800 hp and around 1100 nm.
I wonder how he will make 3100 kms in 10 days plus 16 rounds at the ring.

The trip is over. We spent a fantastic 10 days. We returned from Ljubljana, Slovenia after we loaded the cars to ferry in Trieste on October 19th.

October 10th: Unloaded the cars in Trieste and drove to Munich via Udine, Villach and Salzburg.

    October 11th: Visited BMW Welt

    and M division

    October 12th: Drove to Nurburgring

    October 13th: The Green Hell

October 14th: Drove to Zurich via Stuttgart

I was planning to visit Porsche and Mercedes museum but I had to visit BMW service for the amber check engine light and shaky wheels. But when I reached I realized it was sunday and closed. So I waited for my friends to visit their tour at the museums. After we continued to Zurich.

October 15th: Drove to Milano via Luzern and Lugano

Our first plan was to drive via San Bernardino but the snow did not let us go. So we returned all the way back to Zurich (120 + 120 km)

and continued via Luzern and Lugano.

    Milano

    October 16th: Cannes

    Nice

    Monte Carlo

Ticket after a fast drive in the tunnel

October 18th: Drove to Maranello, Modena
    October 19th: Trieste

It was my first time at the ring and it was amazing. My first two rounds were as a passenger.
Then I drove 8 rounds. The ring closed 3 times for 45 mins. Because of some accidents.

All of us had the tickets for speeding. It was really cheap. 22.5 EUR. But the F430 driver was not that lucky. He paid an extra 300 EUR for the loud exhaust.

The car was an attention magnet during the whole trip. The ferraris got the biggest attention but the z8 was the most loved one of all. At the ring the car attracted the same attention.

Actually it was our hotel. I reserved it through booking.com. It got almost 9 points out of 10 and more than 300 positive reviews. But the hotel was not that good. It was clean but we did not like. It looked like a 2 star cheap hotel.

I got very sad about the club in Munich. I sent an email to the club that I was coming to Munich from Istanbul and want to visit the club office and make some z8 merchandise.
I contacted a lady and she told me that there is no office and the shopping is made through the website. As far as I remember there was an office before. I was told the office is closed.
May be I`m expecting too much but I would be happy if I was welcomed by the club when I was in Munich.

Fantastic!!! How was the Z8 to drive on the Ring?

You said it well- the Z8 always gets a lot of attention and love. Its special in ways the others are not- because its not what BMW usually does. Whereas the 430s of the world are what Ferrari does. I bet the guy in the Scud loved taking it around the Ring. How did the 599 do? The brakes on that car can become overheated- similar to how standard BMW brakes can- though they take a little longer on the 599.

    Hello Jerry,

Z8 got much more attention than what it gets in my country. Here is a little list what people called when they see my car. All started with wow and:

    Z acht
    Z otto
    Z huit
    Z eight

599 drove mildly at the ring and he had no problem with the brakes. But the GT2 and 430 could only make 2 rounds because they were pulled out the ring because of the sound regulations. They were really loud.

I think thats too bad on the sound regulations- this is the Ring!

When I see your car I just say "AWESOME!"

Did you scrape it at all- on the Carousel it looks really close.

    What tires are you running?

Great pics. Reminds me of my 2008 euro delivery. 1200 miles around Europe was a blast. I may have to do it again for the 2014 M3 depending on what the final version becomes.

I got busted by a speed camera in Switzerland costing $225 franks. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories and sharing yours.

    Hello Richard,

I saw the new M3 at the M department in Munich. We could not take a picture but we were told it was the actual car with the actual new engine. 6 cylinder I cant remember but between 3 and 4 liter turbo charged engine. It is not more than 450 hp may be closer to 420 hp but much lighter than the e90 m3. As you may know the coupe version will be named as m4. So the m3 name will not be used for coupe. The upcoming m3 is a sedan.

Awesome. I love the look of a fully loaded suspension.

Im glad you could see the M3. I'm really really really upset about the name change. Who dreams of owning an M4?

Got that... But it breaks the lineage. For so many years the m3 has been a coupe, and the 4 door the pedestrian version. Perhaps this is progress?

Yeah I know that too but it makes no sense to me because the official reasoning is this will be clearer for people to understand, however, their naming convention has gone all nutty- the numbers on the back of the cars no longer correspond to the engine size and the names of the cars have gotten very long "xdrive" this and "sdrive" that. I think they are doing this not to be clear, but to further blur the lines between which models are sharing running gear..... I miss the old naming conventions.
