If it works I'll be so incredibly impressed, it seems an insanely complex web of interwoven actions that are all individually over brimming with the possibility of a mishap.

I see now why it needs to be done this way - this thing is 2000kg landed on the surface. 4 times bigger than the the last rovers, with a planned mission time of 2 years vs 90 days.

I sure hope all goes right.

As more than one racer has said, "I'd rather be lucky than good".

That applies to much in life, but I've always been a believer that one makes their own luck.

It really is amazing. Its hard to understand how small we truly are!

I subscribe to Sky & Telescope for exactly that reason, a monthly reminder of the vastness of this ever expanding firework we call our universe.

With all our instruments and learning all we know is what is inside its expanding bubble, we have no concept of what it's expanding into, and if there are countless more expanding (and collapsing) universes just like ours out there.

I read Scientific American and I watch all the shows on the universe also. I was reading a "new" theory that everything in our universe is really 2D and that we just experience reality in a way that makes it seem like its in 3D. ?!?!? Sometimes I wonder if our minds have the capacity to truly understand all of this but I think they do- its just that long held believes are hard to change.

Well the truth is that the universe just is, it's our minds that keep trying to explain and label it, but it doesn't care!

with the daily news filled with senseless violence, incompetence, greed, etc., i do my best to focus on these types of events, showcasing what humans are capable of when working together!

i also enjoy watching some of the incredible original moon landing documentaries, etc. once every 10 years or so as a reminder

Amen. Though I often wonder if there isnt just too much information out there and given human nature, we tend to look at the negative stuff.
