    Prices

Why the high prices for Z8's on cars.com? Is the car starting to become hard to find or appreciated? It appears that the US prices are starting to rival the EU prices. Any thoughts? Or trending perceptions?

Copley Motorcars has a 2002 stratus/ creme with not too many miles and they are asking 150 and it seems like they might just get it. EAG has that Alpina and they are asking like 179 for it and I could see it happening. I think you have two main categories: the cars that have been driven and those that are garage queens. The garage queens seem to be commanding higher prices but Id rather have the miles of smiles.

Also there are realistically only about 1500 left in the USA now, so they are both rarer and far more collectable than before.

found a tool at Hagerty the valuation tool, and they have a condition 1 car at just below 140K for a 2000 model. I like the first year with all the bugs fixes including the Vanos and dash, and a very low VIN. I am a big fan of low VIN and first model years, and since only 491 were made in 2000 that has got to be good. I don't understand why the Z8 is always bunch in total production numbers when every other car on the market and classic car world is judge on each production year. I think the Z8 world needs to break our cars down by year and then color like every other classic that is sold.

Brian I am sympathetic to your point of view but I think the Z8 is really not in the vintage category - at least not yet. Until then its going to be looked at as a modern car and on these its usually the later builds that command the bigger dollars. Maybe it will change in the future, I'm mixed on that. But for now, this is the world we find ourselves in.
