GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! Here are some pics from 3 years ago when the detail shop I use did a real soup to nuts detail job on my Z8. They took the interior panels off and worked each one into such an amazing shine. It struck me as "better than new". There is nothing better than a black car when its clean. The problem is its dirty about 2 minutes later!

    Not enough!

Andrew, yeah black is really a great shade for a car but you are wise to have gotten your Z8s in silver. However, and this is simply a personal belief here, for me, this is my favorite color combo on the Z8. It just pops. When its clean.

They really did a beautiful job! Getting the swirls out inside and out really makes it look great.

    Jerry,
I noticed that you are using black floor mats in your car, an idea I should also consider given the futility of keeping the originally-equiped red ones clean. Thanks for posting your pictures!

Thanks Ed. I am the cars original owner. When I got her in Aug of 2000- wow time flies!! - I noticed after a few days the red mats were getting very dirty. So I got them cleaned but they were still a bit stained. I went to my BMW dealer and bought a set of black mats for the Z8 and another set of red. I kept the original set boxed up in the black mats box and the second red set is in storage. This way I could have a pristine, like new car if / when they stopped making the mats. It probably wasn't necessary but I did it back then. Sometime in 2003/4 I realized I wore through the black mats- where your shoe heel goes, I seem to wear that spot out. I had a local shop make me mats that are black carpet with a large rubber/plastic wear area and then with red piping on them to match the interior. They came out pretty good and thats what I've been running with since.

    crap on sill

I have some similar crap on my sills that won't wash off. Any suggestions on how to get it off short of a full buff job?

    thanks

In case any of you want an all in one cleaner wax/ look no furtherer. I use this on my sedan 2-3x a year and it works great. Even after multiple winter time car wash visits (I dont like to hand wash during the cold winter though I will do it on occasion) water still beads up. This isn't going to likely win you a platinum at a concours, but it is a great great product and has a wide range of uses. I highly highly recommend this.

You can also use Mothers R3 (race rubber remover) it's great for hard to get off junk. Or as Jerry said, a cleaner wax. Or, try clay bar.
