    Exclamation Offroad Z8

I received today the e-mail below from a friend in Metro Detroit, MI.

    Hi Hermann -
Did you hear the one about the Bugatti driven into the swamp in Texas? Along those lines comes this example from just 2 blocks away. I noticed it 11/23 and I drive by there often so it must have just been fresh from the night before. The other tire tracks seem to be from some other unknown vehicle.

The site is a recently demolished commercial building. Due to lots of rain and the very recent excavation the ground is very soft, but that seems to have escaped this driver. It's hard to imagine why he turned in here, there are lots of other spots for a turn around or whatever, and the intersection (13 Mile and Rochester Rd) is well lit at night. Perhaps he should have brought the Jeep instead.......

    Holiday regards,
    Bob K.

At least driving in the mud will be easy on the shock towers.

Ouch! Hope they have a lift. That car is going to need some serious cleaning. I suggesting shipping the car to Carlos for a thorough going over.

Yikes! It makes me cringe just thinking about of the 1,500 or so Z8 remaining in the US this lucky car is literally stuck in the mud.

Notice the Tow Hooks sticking out of the Grill?

Looks like they tried to tow it out - look at the tracks in front of the Z8. I would love to know the story...

Wow, I only just saw the tow hooks. I guess they stopped when they realized that they were ripping the front of the car off since that's not where the hook goes.

In case you're wondering, the tow hook goes in a port in lower grill on the passenger side.

Those are tow Hooks? In the grille? Wow. I thought they were wadded up underwear, kinda like notched in the bedpost.

Wish we knew the VIN. One day we could get a laugh when it comes up for sale:

Yikes, not even I can help that poor bastard! I'm glad it's his car and not mine.

We may never know the true events leading up to these pictures, but I cannot help imagine a story with a Risky Business movie theme.

A couple of kids "borrow" dad's car for a spin around the neighborhood. The boys see a friend at McDonald's (see 5th picture) and while attempting a quick turn around in the vacant lot next door the car gets stuck in the mud... Grounded for life!

Does anybody else have a theory on the sticky business Z8?

I am thinking there is a good chance there is little damage to this car.

So long as they didn't actually get any real pressure on the badly placed tow lines, as that could pull the the top frame rails in, creating the same hood line squeeze seen in the shock tower issue, in which case this was a very expensive error!

Are we thinking they really, I mean REALLY tried to pull it out where those panties are tied to the grille?

If they actually REALLY pulled from there, it'd just rip out the plastic grill inserts. No real damage.

The radiator mounting frame that's part of the front crumple zone is what I suspect they were going for, and it's designed to 'fail' so if they were really trying to pull it out hard, as the deeper tracks of the car that tried in front suggest, they could have done some real damage to the front.
