    A rather odd test with a Z8

I saw this video on the Z8 facebook page. The only thing flying off my head is my favorite Z8 cap from Pandaman! I hope the video doesn't offend anyone

I had to watch the video twice to check out the wheels because I was so fixated on determining the critical launch speed for the supplemental hairpiece. In the spirit of true scientific knowledge, I would repeat all testing in the Z8 with the windscreen in place to evaluate its effectiveness in increasing the critical launch speed...

The first "supplemental hairpiece" made it to 250 kmh or 155 mph, the 2nd one only made it to 120 kmh or 75 mph. Maybe with the windscreen in place the 2nd one could have made it to 76 miles per hour.

Isn't 155 mph the top speed of the car?

I don't know about German speed regulators but in the US, all cars manufactured after a certain year are required to be electronically regulated to 155MPH. When you read ads for modifications that state that they will remove the speed limiter, they are referring to reprograming the computer to raise the speed limiter or remove it completely. Thus allowing your Vroom, Vroom to go Boom, Boom.

I hope that this answers your question.

Top speed of 155mph is a USA regulation and the top speed limiter is not on Euro spec models in Germany.

Z8Doc, those are close but I believe the wheels in the hairpiece video are from Hartge.

I have a deal worked out with my barber for all his high end hair piece clients. I get extra bucks if I get the piece to fly of.

The name of the Z8 owner is Hartge. He should be the founder for Hartge. And those rims are 20" Some time ago I was planning to buy a set of those then decided on the BMW motorsport wheels.
