Amazing images of the new South American "Paris-Dakar".

After the threat of terrorism and war finished the famous Sarah Rally the organizers switched continents, but not the name. The Paris-Dakar now runs along the backbone of South America, and the this website has a really stunning set of images of the action as it is unfolding.

Did the US have a team?

Are the bikes equipped with snorkels?

    It's an individual/private team/corporate sport.

I've always loved the mystique of the Paris-Dakar. It's something I've always dreamed of doing, but sadly, it will likely never happen. To cross that finish line has got to be just amazing. Those photos do well to capture the event.

NorCal and I got to talk to a guy at a local car show last year that had run it several times solo. We had fun looking over and talking to him about the road book. It's like reading reading an engineering manual while flying a helicopter. His ride of choice...a 650GS-R of course!

    Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing.

Great Photos but how come no "A.M." in the photo signatures? ;-) Looks like something we all need to attend!

I have to say that I'm constantly blown away by how the new generation of digital cameras are able to make master photographers out of anyone. It is jolly lucky that I've discovered writing just as the ship of my old day job slowly sinks into the past!

    Spectacular Images Andrew!

Here in Barcelona, Spain, we have every day a TV program entirely dedicated to Paris-Dakar race. Believe me there is a incredible nice images and videos mostly registered from helicopters.

As you can see we (Spain) have a lot of riders on the race, on bikes, trucks and cars. In fact Carlos Sainz who is in first place is from Spain.
