    Smile New Owner

Last month I purshased a Silver/Red #60528 in the Seatle area. I would like to thank norcal, macfly and tomfakes for guiding me on the purchase. I had the car shipped down to the Bay Area where I live. The car just turned 34k and with about 10 hours of detailing looks awsome. I have two other Bimmers, (R90S & R1200RT) and they all look great in the garage together. I look forward to many fun miles and events with the Z8 group.

Hi Rifle, Sounds good. Are you going to the German Car gathering at the Livery this weekend?

Phil! Glad you could join the party. What a great car it is. Winter is coming fast but we'll have nice days in between and during. Clear winter days are the best. Hope to see you this weekend at Octoberfest. Rifle, you up for it? (at The Paddock)

Phil, so happy that you're coming with us, great news!!!

I'm about to try to book a closed transporter for us, it'll be picking up Clive & my cars in LA, then doing a stop in SF to add you, Ian and hopefully Rifle. Do you guys have a pick up point in mind?

This trip sounds like it is going to be a blast, plus my birthday is August 3, so it could be a present to myself. Now I just need to get over the mental hurdle of putting so many miles on my car.

It is a lot of miles, but what a joyous journey, and as they say in life it's all about the journey!

I'm now old enough that I know as many people who are no longer with us as I do those still living. I have no idea how long I have, but I do know that driving the Z8 is one of the very greatest pleasures this planet has given me. Looking at it is cool too, but driving it is better, so I've put the fear of miles behind me. My mileage allowance is 3,000 miles per annum, so if I get to drive it till I'm 80 my Z8 will just hit 100,000 miles, which as we know from the M5 board and the Z8's in Europe, is nothing for these motors!

After that it can be someone else's restoration project!

Does that mean we can expect to see the Topaz car on this trip?I am very tempted, but also, it is alot of time for me to be away from home and work. My vacation is usually the last week of May and the first week of June. let me see what I can do.

I'm secretly hoping to sell the Topaz car, and I've already made it non-op, so it really is dead weight.

We will make sure you have a great birthday. Don't worry about the miles. The car will thank you later.

Andrew has it just right. Miles in The Z8 through beautiful countryside, and down time with great friends is as good as life gets. The miles are not an "expense" merely a measure of good times. 31,000+ and counting. That's a lot of amazing memories. I wouldn't trade them for the world. Life is short, get it while it's hot!
