    Insurance Question

I am switching insurance companies and wondered who is with whom?

I am placing the classics with Grundy Worldwide but haven't decided on the Z8. Any suggestions (yes I know about agreed value policies).

Let me know who you find, I'm with State Farm for simplicity, as everything else in my life is with them.

So far, Hagerty is the least expensive. I can insure the classics and the Z8 for less than 2k. Grundy was about 500 more. So Hagerty it is.

Both allow you to get a quote online.

By the way, the Speedster took another award on Wednesday and has been invited to be in the 4th of July parade. For a senior citizen, it's a busy little car.

It is a standard automobile policy (not agreed value). Liability and uninsured both at 250K/500K and property damage 100K.

Also looking for a stated value policy

Due to the purchase of an M3 I did not need I have moved my Z8 off site to a exotic car storage facility. This has me thinking I need a stated value policy. I am now insured with USAA but they will not do stated value. With USAA if you have a total loss I believe they will try to find you a car or pay the blue book value. With stated value of coarse they pay you what you stated was the value. My Hagerty internet quote for a stated value of 120K, 1000 miles a year and California location was $2,397.

I was quoted 1952.00 for all four cars including the Z8 at 110K value, CA registration and 100/300 coverage with no deductible and $750 spare parts coverage. Without the Z8 I was quoted $499. All of this is Agreed Value. I may look at just having Comp on the Z8 and not driving it.

    More info

Just got another internet quote of $1931 for 2500 miles same 120K "agreed value".
Did discover agreed and stated are not the same and you want agreed value. I am paying USAA $900 a year for ACV (actual cash value). Also did a Kelley blue book and it came in at $74,810 for my 2001 Z8 with 7500 miles.

Sad about the KBB value, huh? I am with CSAA (AAA) and have been paying 1300 for what they implied was agreed value but is ACV. They now admit that they do not do AV and they also do not have coverage that meets the needs of collector cars. When they told me that on Thursday, I cancelled the policies on 3 cars and reduced the Z8 to comp only.

When you sign for Agreed Value, you pay for the amount that you want covered. I used figures that were based on what I felt the cars could sell for during the next year if the economy recovers (bwahahaha... just thought that I'd humor you).

    Has State Farm ever balked?

Will State Farm cover the entire cost of a major body repair? Or is a SF policy a risk in any other way?

I had all my vehicles insured with USAA. About a year ago I asked them about agreed value policy for my 03 z8. They refered me to
American Collectors Insurance. Special phone number for USAA members 1 800 630 6302.
    Agreed value $130,000, annual milage 2500, BI/PD 250K/500K/100K, UM/UIM 60,000, spare parts 500, comp and coll 500 deductable.
    Cost 1524.
They probably have a regular phone number. Ther are located in Cherry Hill, NJ

Yes, but what questions do you want to ask?

    Agreed Value policy I pay:
    1) under 500
    2.) 500-1000
    3.) 1000-1500
    etc etc,

Regular fully comp (State Farm etc)
    1) under 500
    2.) 500-1000
    3.) 1000-1500
    etc etc,

Let me know what you want to know, but I think you can also make a poll when you make a post - I thought everyone has the option?

What would the variables be that would effect the price that someone pay's. There is probably too many to create a poll.

As I research more companies, I will be happy to post my findings here.

    Andrew,

The FAQ says: To start a new thread simply click on the 'new thread' button (you may need the right permissions to do this). Any chance you can start a thread that might lead to some interesting discussions? Agreed Value or standard full comp. Coverage limits 1Mil/3Mil or 100K/300K?

    Thanks for your help.
