    Wiesmann's new car...

I guess it is pretty obvious that I'd love this little German company's hand made cars, they are the sportscar equivelant of a Saville Row suit, finished to your exact specs. This is their new MF4 Roadster, which looks a lot like their other cars, but it has the new M3 V8 screamer in its heart! You can have it with a full manual box, or the new 7 gear paddle shifter system.

Sadly noone imports these stunning cars to the US, but incase anyone feels inspired here is their website, http://www.wiesmann.com/

If you haven't seen these before we also have a old thread on them here.

Looks like a modern version of a 60's Austin Healy.

Not on all pages however. I could not get the english version of the specs pages.

I wonder if they are US legal?

Funny thing is my new Roundel just arrived and they have a story on the old straight 6 version, and they say it is coming to the USA, but don't give any details of a single importer.

Damn, mine arrived today but I gave it away before reading it.

Any chance of you posting the article?

No, takes way too much time to scan stuff in prepare it to post, only Z8 stuff gets that treatment, beside which the story was neither informative or exciting.

For apparent reasons I like the Coup? as well

    some pics

Actually, I prefer the 4.8Liter V8 over the screaming M3-Engine. Same is true for the Coup? with the M5 engine, this is overkill at 1,250 kgs.
    Best regards, Dieter

Stunning Dieter, I love the color, what an awesome car, congratulations!!!

I was also thinking that the torquier V8 would be a nicer fit for such a car that the screaming M motor, so I'm glad to hear you say that too. I like this car so much that it may well be the next new car I'm saving for, but then again there is that blue Alpina in Canada that I like too!

Germany, highway A31, this morning; a Wiesmann GT testing car driven by a Wiesmann employee on his way to the testtrack, at about 200 km/hour crashed.
The driver survived with minor injuries.......

Interesting, there is no glass or other debris on the ground nor are there skid / scratch marks.

Kinda looks like the car was put there.

Both pictures are of a prototype crash in 2006. The driver was J?rg van Ommen, a very well-known and skilled race driver. It was the first prototype with the V10 in it. So if these get posted here, one should look at the dates of the accident...
    Best regards, Dieter

Yes, no problem. I think it was a tire failure.

Excuse me for bringing 'old news'! I guess my source (Autoweek.NL; http://www.autoweek.nl/autonieuws/11...in-de-vangrail) is also not accurate about the cause of the crash; but they stated that traffic that got in the way of the Wiesmann that was travelling on the left lane was the cause. One can be a very experienced an respected test driver but our daily driving conditions are far off the conditions on the test track........

This car is stunning. Have any made it to the US?
Wouldn't it be fun to make a fiberglass replicar to retrofit a Z4?

    From their website:
"At the factory in D?lmen, Westphalia, as well as at 29 international distribution partners, the Wiesmann Roadster MF3, Wiesmann GT MF4 and Wiesmann GT MF5 models are available to try."

    Roadtrip anyone?

I have a Titanium and Black Z8 also. Now I know how it would look parked next to a "W". Your garage is a bit cleaner though.

So I am jealous on 2 counts.

Ken, I'm booked to fly to the UK on the Monday on my way to Munich for the 10th Anniversary event. I was originally thinking of going to a track school at the ring, but maybe a day at the Wiesmann factory could be a good alternative!
