    Talking 你好!我是新成員!

    Hello everyone,

I'm a new member- My name is Teddy and I'm from Hong Kong. I'm now 18 years old and I've been studying in the UK for 3.5 years already. I'm now in a town called Sxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxhorpe (not far away from Manchester in the UK) Before I had been just studying at HK schools. At the moment school work has been quite busy (Music, Spanish, Maths, Business) so I won't be able to come that often, but at least I've joined the Z8 family now- HooRay...

I would say that I'm a really big fan of the BMW Z8's - I've loved it since it was launched in 2000. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the Z8s were imported into the HK market, and the fact that it's a limited production + expensive so my parents can impossibly own one even they know that I adore it so much.

But still, since I love BMW in general anyway , my parents have decided to have a E39 5 series just because of me and I myself as a Z8 dreamer also manage to drive a very real looking Z8 in the PC game GTA SA- I consider it as my real car coz otherwise I've got no other ways to feel it at all.

BMW Z8 is such a gorgeous car - the combination of classic & modern, looking really pure, elegant and beautiful, the successor of its father the BMW 507, which I love it as well- I've got both of these 1:18 high quality model cars at my home in Hong Kong.

Although I know that in my life I probably won't be able to feel the real Z8 at all due to its price, limited production and available locations , I hope that I can at least somehow join into the Z8 family (here) and appreciate others' Z8 and talk to you all as owners. In addition, I'm already so happy to be able to have my own Z8 and drive it inside my PC...

Although I'm in such a situation, I hope that you all don't mind and we shall become good friends gradually and in the near future do please teach me how to save up $$ to afford a real Z8 and have it driven in HK, haha... (Z8 is not an available model in the whole China as well, I think, so there're definitely no Z8 fan clubs and real Z8s.) In fact, is it possible at all to import a Z8 from US, for e.g, into China, have the registration thing done and drive it? Does anyone know about cases like this? Very costly to do so?

Sorry about writing such long but really nice to meet you all. Again, my name is Teddy, and my full Chinese name is Wong Chi Yu : 黃子輿 (surname comes first for Chinese ppl) That's also why my user name is CYWong

Looking forward to hearing from you all and lastly attachments are pics of my Z8 in "My" US World!

    Cheers,
    Teddy

For the spelling of the name of town I'm in at the moment should not be spelt like that but there's something wrong with the PC/technical thing when I put the letters together. So, it should be S C U N T H O R P E - and then put these letters together, haha.

The Z8 looks both very different, and also very familiar in your world! I had my first solo exhibition in Hong Kong earlier this year, and spent a wonderful week there, what a great city! You asked about my pictures, many of the shots in the Gallery section are mine, and if you look in the drives trips & events section you can see some of our adventures.

What are you studying in the UK?

Haha...well, that another Z8 is someone else's- he crashed it (I didn't see it) towards a tree along a highway and abandoned it, I think. So I just immediately got off my car and took photos, before the police arrived. The interior on the screen looked clearer without the doors so I just took that 2 photos, even I could hv just opened the doors of my own Z8 and take the photos instead.

BTW, I have another BMW which is also the one I drove along the highway when I saw the incident, the E38 750iL, which is another lover of mine. Here're some photos below:

So do you mean that you went to HK to run an exhibition thing as part of yr business? Was it held in Wan Chai? Can you remember that or not? May I know what kind of exhibition was that?

BTW, I think that u may think HK is really crowded and packed, right? But personally I think shopping & eating in HK is really good, haha, even space is limited there so it is just crowded and everything being packed so closely together...

Where do you usually run the Z8 trips thing? Are they usually just within the US (which is huge enough already)? I would like to join in 1 day though, even though I might not manage to buy a Z8 at all in my life...

I've only been to the US once before, for 11 days, with a tour, throughout the main cities there, just 1 week before the 911 happened...It was a sad thing but apart from that I think the US is amazing- so big and cool in some cities in particular. E.g. Las Vegas ($$$) !

At the moment, I'm just 1 more year away from University level. So, I do Music, Spanish, Maths, Business at my 6th form college here (UK). Work has been getting harder & harder so sometimes I just feel that I can't breath at all!!!

BTW, again imaging having a Z8 to me is really amazing- In fact I've been into a Z8 before just once in HK, when was BMW's exhibition in 2000, which the Z8 was only for display due to its amazing history but not for sale in the HK market (as I said). The feeling being inside was just so gorgeous! I WANNA HAVE ONE!!!

So, if I can come to the US again one day u shall let me sit into it for longer, at least, haha.

I've found a video about Z8 which after watching it I dream about it even more! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qOnrhYDYNIs

My exhibition was at the Cat Street Gallery, and here is an overview of my show there.

I loved HK, I was there once before in the 80's for the South China Sea Race, an open ocean race to Manilla, so I saw HK before and after reunification, great city!

    Hi Teddy,

how long do you have left in the U.K. ? I live in Doncaster, not a million miles away from you. So when I get the Z8 out in the spring, you're welcome to a spin in it! Feel free to remind me closer to the time.

    Roy.

    Hello Roy,
    Nice to meet you.
It's my 4th year now in the UK, and how lucky to meet u here- finally someone who lives in the UK as well, haha. So are you an English?
Yes, Doncaster is fairly close to where I'm now- only takes a short while on the train- what a pleasure knowing you. :>
And how cool it is that you are a UK Z8 owner!!! As I know, Z8 is already quite rare in US, and even rarer in UK- hvn't seen 1 so far in the UK...so it's just so kind of you inviting me to a spin in it, haha.
Yes, I'll definitely look forward to it and thx for the opportunity- last time I was in a Z8 which was only a display car in a BMW exhibition was like year 2000 in Hong Kong, where I'm from, for only 30sec.
Once again, so nice to meet you.
    Cheers,
    Teddy
