If you're just looking for engine life, check the e39 M5 forum. I've seen lots of high mileage cars above 60k.

A club member here in Germany has about 300.000 km on the clock and is using the Z8 as a daily driver over 8 years now. He has the first engine without major problems.

I have 44,000 smiles and I have been driving it very little the last two years. It's "bulletproof".

    100.000 miles

Thanks for your answer Joe. A friend of mine drove the M5 with same engine for over 100.000 miles, with no problem. I hope a 200.000 miles minimun life. Just guess if anyone has already reached this figure and could tell us, first hand, hows the car.All the best.

I agree it seems to be bulletproof. I have a 2003 with 44,500 "smiles" too and now driving little to preserve the car. The first 24K was as a daily driver and I encountered no mechanical issues with the engine or drivetrain.

    More miles every day...

As of today I am at 52,759 miles. Daily driver for the most part - sometimes I take the Boxster to work instead and the X3 when I want to listen to Howard on Sirius...
